Meet Raj White | Business Owner, Community Curator, and Hospitality Expert

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raj White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raj, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I first started building SĀKRED, I thought passion alone would protect me from burnout. I loved what I was doing, so I told myself I could handle the late nights, the constant to-do lists, and the pressure of getting everything “right.” But I quickly learned that even when you’re doing what you love, you can still burn out if you’re not intentional. Hustle culture will convince you that rest is a reward, not a requirement—but I’ve had to unlearn that.
Over time, I’ve come to realize that balance isn’t about a perfect 50/50 split. It’s about rhythm. It’s about honoring both the grind and the pause. For me, that means protecting my mornings, spending time with God, creating boundaries around my energy, and learning to ask for help. I now view my rest, my relationships, and my rituals as fuel—not distractions.
That’s also a big part of why SĀKRED Coffee Co. exists. It was born from my own sacred ritual of slowing down, making a cup of coffee, and reconnecting with myself. Now I get to share that experience with others—and I’m constantly reminding myself to practice what I preach.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
SĀKRED Coffee Co. is more than just a mobile coffee cart — it’s a reminder to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and treat your everyday rituals as sacred. We specialize in intentional coffee and matcha experiences, offering curated drinks made with quality ingredients like ceremonial grade matcha and clean-label alternative milks. Whether we’re popping up at a wellness event, serving at a corporate gathering, or creating custom matcha tastings for private parties, our mission remains the same: protect the ritual, and serve with purpose.
What sets SĀKRED apart is the heart behind it. This brand was born in a season of stillness, when I felt God calling me to create something rooted in peace, presence, and care. After a career pivot, I found myself reflecting on the one thing that always grounded me — my morning coffee ritual. That small, quiet moment became the blueprint for what SĀKRED is now. It’s why our motto is “Your Ritual. Our Craft. Always SĀKRED.”
Getting here hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced all kinds of challenges — from equipment delays and financial constraints to having to plumb my espresso machine myself with zero experience. I even had a moment where I realized the custom cart I ordered didn’t fit the equipment it was built for. It’s been a road full of potholes, detours, and late-night YouTube tutorials — but I wouldn’t change a thing. Every setback stretched me. Every obstacle reminded me that purpose and ease don’t always go hand in hand.
What I’m most proud of is how SĀKRED has become a space of connection — not just for me, but for my community. It’s not just about serving drinks; it’s about creating moments of presence, joy, and intention. I’ve met incredible people through this journey, collaborated with other mission-driven brands, and been able to pour back into causes I care deeply about.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to trust the slow build. Not everything has to be rushed. Sacred things take time. I want the world to know that behind the cart, behind the cups, behind the brand — is a woman following God’s plan, doing her best to serve people well, one ritual at a time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d kick off Saturday morning with a Pilates class at Happy Hour Pilates — it’s the perfect energizing start to the day. After that, we’d head to Memorial Park for a long walk and some grounding nature time. Once we’ve earned it, we’d grab a smoothie from Leemoo (their ingredients are so clean and fresh — it’s a must).
Midday, we’d get in some quiet inspiration at The Menil Collection and the Cy Twombly Gallery — two of my favorite hidden gems in the city. For the evening, I’d keep it fun and flavorful: light bites and quick drinks at The Toasted Coconut, followed by a more elevated dinner experience at MAD — because the vibes, the food, and the interiors are all a whole experience.
Sunday would be all about soul-filling. We’d start with church at City Life, then grab breakfast at Harry’s (the menu is expansive and never disappoints). After that, we’d stroll through the Houston Farmers Market and explore Sawyer Yards for local art and creativity. We’d probably wind things down with a nightcap or cozy drink at Neighbor’s to close out the weekend.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I want to give all honor to God. This journey started with a seed He planted in my spirit—a vision for something bigger than just coffee. SĀKRED was born from that moment of divine clarity, and I truly believe I’m just the vessel being used to carry it out. Every open door, every lesson, every connection has been orchestrated by Him.
I also want to shout out my best friend, Tyra. During the prelaunch phase—when fear, imposter syndrome, and self-doubt were the loudest—she was a constant voice of encouragement. She didn’t just cheer me on from the sidelines; she created real accountability. She helped me set milestones, reminded me of the ‘why,’ and kept me focused when things felt overwhelming. Her belief in me gave me the confidence to keep going.
No dream is built alone, and I’m incredibly grateful for the people God placed in my life to speak life into mine.
