We had the good fortune of connecting with Ramxes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ramxes, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is extremely important to stand out in my opinion. We are all unique and different in ways in which we implement our visions and creativity. Even if we make similar or close styles the way it is created from one person to the next can vary. I recommend we always take the risk to go with our most true self. This is can be the biggest risk in a world where a lot of people want to blend in. There is a short term victory in blending in and not staying true, but the largest reward is always in being yourself. This has paid off for me in many cases where I could have stuck to one role or followed a crowd in terms of my music and art, but then people would not have been acknowledging my unique creative thoughts. By taking the risk people are now saying I am creating a new type of music known as Dystopic music. It has also helped me by taking the chance to get with certain people to me now being able to be with my label Italians Do It Better.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The thing that sets me out is in my creative mind I am always thinking about the future. When I say future I don’t necassarily mean “where will I be in 10 years” I mean about how life will be in the year 20xx, 21xx, or even 3000. I do think about my future, but futuristic thoughts are what really encourage and inform my creative fuel. It was not easy being seen as a “different” or “new” thing. A lot of times its like you’re never one thing enough instead of being accepted for what you are. For me I have the idea to keep pushing forward to overcome it. The way I see it if you have to take a concrete wall down and you try one way to do it then you just have to expand your mind, adapt, and overcome to take it down. The lessons I have learned is no matter what someone who may “out rank” you says if you do what you believe and if you put all of your effort and soul into it then it will work. In these scenerios music, or starting a business the most important thing is to trust and believe in yourself. I would like the world to know I am not just building a thing to be in a mind of one territory or one place, but that the sounds and dystopic frequncies are an international thing. As an artist my story is not only the story passed down of my actual ancestor Ramesses, but the story of how all humans not only continue the legacy of their ancestors, but the fate of humanity to push it to greater heights.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in the city would have to be Lucy’s Ethiopian, Cafe Mawal, Axelrad, Ohmygogis, and Guitar Center on Westhimer. We live in an area where a lot of cool things under healthier circumstances happen. These are some of my favorite places in terms of the atmosphere, general vibes, and various events put on at a place like Axelrad.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One of my personal mentors is a guy named Tim. I met him when I went to uni, and he happened to have been a musician as well. He worked with some a lot of legends back in the day in the 90s and late 80s. I have people who are larger than life and inspire me, but I don’t know them personally. Tim is some one I know personal and it just so happened he went to school with my father at Yates back in the day as well. He gave me a lot of good knowledge and information about the music industry. Everytime I see him he would first always ask me, “Have you been working on music?” It was a good and motivational way to always remember even when I was at uni and working on my degree that the music was my true goal.
