We had the good fortune of connecting with Rayna Valadez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rayna, what’s your definition for success?
Success is accomplishing a goal you’ve set for yourself. Success for myself would have to be opening my own salon and being the salon owner I wish I had. I of course wouldn’t just want to have a salon but to give my clients the ultimate experience they’ve never had before. Something that hasn’t happened in our area. That would be the definition of success for myself.

Art is the expression of human creativity. My art reflects each and everyone of my clients unique personalities. I take my clients favorite colors and day to day life and create a work of art (haircut, hair color, or makeup look) that fits them best. I am extremely proud of how far I have came in the last 2 years doing hair and being self employed. Getting where I am today definitely wasn’t easy. It took numerous trial and errors as well as extended education and time. I attended cosmetology school during the height of the covid-19 pandemic and learning hair and makeup virtually is definitely NOT easy! I had to take complete control of my education ( asking many questions and doing my own research). If I wouldn’t have taken control I probably would’ve barely finished school and wouldn’t have received my license. Along my journey I’ve learned patience, listening, extended compassion, and many different techniques. What I want people to know most about myself is I am EXTREMELY grateful for how far I have came and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. My clients are like family to me, I’m the shoulder you need to cry on or maybe just a listening ear for each and everyone of them. I help boost confidence and that is what drives me to do the best I can! I care deeply for all of my clients after all I wouldn’t be where I am without each and everyone of them.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely have to shoutout my family. They’re my driving force especially my little boy Frankie. I wouldn’t have been able to easily finish cosmetology school if it wasn’t for my mom. She would alternate schedules with me so I could make it to class and work while she babysat Frankie. Secondly my dad, he’s always taught my brother and I to never give up even in the toughest moments. He’s always motivated me to push past boundaries. As for my Brother and boyfriend Kevin, they have always supported me in all my endeavors. Kevin has always had my back in any and every decision I make. My family by far deserves this shoutout more than anyone.
