From the very beginning, Your Best Elf was never just about selling an elf kit. Every decision, every product design, every tiny elf accessory we’ve created has been fueled by the belief that time together is the most precious gift of all.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I think back to how Your Best Elf truly got its start, my mind goes straight to September 2023. I had been talking about the idea for months—probably to the point where my husband had heard me brainstorm every possible angle. One day, he finally looked at me and said, “Just do it.” Those three words became the push I didn’t even know I was waiting for.

The Turning Point
Not long after, the opportunity that changed everything landed in my lap. The Tidbits Twinkle Market—an event with a long-standing history of helping launch women-owned businesses—had a last-minute opening in November 2023. I got the call inviting us to participate, and even though the turnaround was tight, I said yes without hesitation.
It was one of those moments where you just make it work. That event became the catalyst that catapulted Your Best Elf into the business world. The energy, the connections, the enthusiasm from customers—it confirmed what I had felt all along: there was a real need for a product that could bring holiday magic into homes without adding stress to already busy parents’ plates.

Lessons Learned Along the Way
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in this journey, it’s the value of flexibility. We teach our kids to “go with the flow,” but in business, it’s a survival skill. Nothing works 100% of the time. You have to think outside the box, adapt quickly, and get creative in how you manage the challenges and complexities of a growing business.

For me, that meant learning to outsource parts of our production, streamline processes, and trust other talented people to help bring my vision to life. The result? A product and experience that’s better than I could have created alone—and a business that continues to grow beyond what I imagined in those early conversations with my husband.

Looking Ahead
Today, Your Best Elf is proud to be one of the top elf kit companies in the U.S., with each kit designed and hand-packed in Texas. We’ve built a loyal customer base, expanded into multiple markets including the legendary Houston Nutcracker Market, and continued to evolve our product to include new features and surprises each season.
And it all started with a last-minute “yes” at a holiday market.
