We had the good fortune of connecting with Lesa Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lesa, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
It’s the thing I’ve always been most drawn to. I love creating through my acting work, writing, or content creation. It brings me joy and I believe you should love what you do, so that means a creative field is the best for me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m really excited about all of the film and tv projects I’ve been a part of that have been coming out this year. I’m most proud of the work I did as Bobbie Burman on Stargirl. That airs on The CW. It’s such a special show and bringing a complex character to life was so much fun. I’ve worked really hard to get where I’m at today. It takes a lot of persistence and determination. You have to be dedicated to studying the craft and patient enough to wait for the right opportunities to come along. It’s a marathon. I’ve been patient and persistent which has truly paid off for me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Atlanta and a few of my favorite things about the city are the Georgia Aquarium, the Starlight Drive-In movie theater, and Wednesday night salsa dancing at Loca Luna. I’d also suggest going to the High Museum, seeing a show at the Fox Theater, and spending a morning hiking Stone Mountain. Ponce City Market is always a fun place to people watch and the Beltline is bustling with people.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe so much to my film and tv agent, Jason Lockhart and the rest of the team at Atlanta Models and Talent. He’s worked hard to help me grow as an actress and has helped open a lot of doors. We are a great team! I also wouldn’t be where I’m at in my career and my life if it weren’t for the amazing tribe of women that surround me. These are women that have become family over the years and strive to build one another up and cheer loudly for the success of everyone in our tribe.
