We had the good fortune of connecting with Reggie Haynes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Reggie, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
I can’t stand when people tell me to “pay my dues”. That basically means sell your soul in my honest opinion. I would rather create my own, so by the end of the day I will still have a soul and everything else.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I own an online television network named, The RHTV Network. This is a Pay Per view network which features a comedy show featuring comedians Jose Mwamba and Slade Ham. My other television show is titled “The House of Reggie’s TV Show”, which is a one man show as I act in every role and I also do all of the behind the scenes work, filming, sound, different voice overs/characters, etc. This television network is what I am most proud of in life. I am always exactly where i want to be in life regardless if others say or think otherwise. I always study movies in regards to the acting, editing, writing, etc. I’ve been doing this since I was eight years old and that characteristic trait won’t leave me until I retire. I am very proud of the fact that I never had to buy into a corrupt system in order to do what I love to do on a consistent basis. Was it easy for me? No. Due to the fact that you always have “programmed” individuals who try to tell you what they feel is best for you based off of what they are use to seeing on television. I overcame that by respectfully ignoring all of these people while doing what I felt was best and people who respected my work started to support me as time went on. I just want the world to know that I am a symbol who is presenting a message that if you love doing something that isn’t negatively effecting anyone or anything else, just do it…. Not for the money or fame either, do it because you love doing it, even if it means doing what you love to do all alone.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I would take my friend to downtown Houston and introduce them to a few soul food spots in the area. I would then take them to a few parks which leads to the city’s river walk, and obviously a theme park, oh my bad they took that away from us years ago. That would probably be it. I’m boring and also would be a terrible tour guide.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out to my black family who has always supported me along with the three most important women in my life…. My sister, my mom, and my wife.
