We had the good fortune of connecting with Renita, Smile & Rina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Renita, Smile & Rina, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
We’re from Samoa, an island in the South Pacific. As Samoan women, our parents instilled the value of family, hard work & selflessness. So, it’s safe to say that we have applied those values in our everyday lives, business and personal.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Pasifika women are known for their beautiful long hair, which come in many different textures and curl patterns. The idea of having our own hairline has always been in the back of our minds, but we did not know where to start. We were intimidated by the idea of starting a business and failing. In 2018 we started experimenting at home with various natural ingredients, and after so many failed attempts we sought professional help. Our products are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and handmade in Texas. We launched our hair care line for wavy to curly hair in April of 2021. Since we launched, we’ve had an outpouring of support from all over the world. The furthest our products have gone is to the Middle East in Bali. There aren’t a lot of hair care lines that are Pasifika owned, and we wanted to be one of the first. The health & beauty industry is a billion-dollar industry, so why not tap in? We are currently working on launching products for all hair types. We’ve recently launched merchandise and hope to have our products be regular household items. As of today, we continue to strive to improve our products for our consumers and to build our empire for our future generations.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are foodies so, Breakfast Brothers in Arlington. Ana’s Island Grill in Euless for lunch, and dinner at Kai’s in Plano. They have great cocktails and night life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to give a huge thank you to our families, friends, and last but not least to our customers. We appreciate the continuous love and support.
