We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, it’s hard not to be so full of color and culture, leaving every room you enter a little more vibrant than before.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I was born and raised in New Orleans and that influences my design. New Orleans is a whimsical and eclectic city; full of freedom to express yourself through dance, music, art, style and culture. All of those are aspects I keep in mind when I’m working with clients to express their lifestyle through design.
I’m obsessed with edgy, unconventional design and use of materials. My take on design is a fusion of various opposing and complementary traits – Minimalist modern, uniformly sleek, ethnic heirlooms, and innovative, experimental designs inspired by my travels to South Africa, Uganda, Sonoma, and Chelesa.
My biggest challenge was leaving a highly secure job with the US Department of Labor to pursue my passion as a designer. We all know that feeling of being ever so grateful for the job we have but unfulfilled; you begin praying for your purpose to be revealed. That was me! My passion and purpose didn’t aligned until late 2015.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh gosh…. Houston is full of hidden gems…
For coffee, we would definitely visit 6DayCoffee, Duo, and Toutes
Brunch at The Breakfast Klub, Barnaby Cafe, or Taste Kitchen
Dinner and drinks at Moxie’s, Upper Kirby Bistro, Thirteen
Drink and Chill: Treez, The Sugar Room, Anvil Bar & Refuge…
I could go on and on
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many individuals I wish to shoutout for my success… next to God, my family is the best support system ever. My Mom always encouraged me to a chase my dreams and my Dad and brother have been a silent investors. Oh… and my boyfriend is the best a girl can get! He is supportive, understanding, loving, and pitches in when needed.
That’s just the icing on the cake. The cake is composed of loving and supportive friends and sister cousins that are sounding boards and my place of refuge.
I owe my passion for design to my Aunt JaNeice who has always had an amazing eye for the latest trends., and my grandfather for instilling “how to properly make the bed.”
Midcity Design Group would not exist if it were not for such an amazing cake!
