We had the good fortune of connecting with Rochel Madise and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rochel, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my brand is my faith and trust is God.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is that I keep God included in my business. I consult with Him about it all. I’ve given Him charge over my business and I sow into others from my business. What am I talking about? This is His business! I’m just a worker He chose to hire.
What I’m most excited about is the future of my brand. I have so many great ideas! I’m just ready to see what’s in store for my family and I. But I will be patient while being ready and available.
I’ve gotten where I am today because of God, my willingness to keep going and my family and friends. It has not been easy at all. I don’t believe anyone who is successful in what they do has had it easy. I wouldn’t even tell anyone that having a business is easy. What is easy? What is that? Lol This is hard work, sweat, tears, blood, making mistakes, falling, no money being made sometimes, but perseverance. Perseverance is key! I didn’t give up. That’s what has gotten me from there to here.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way has been to always trust what God has told you and be obedient to what He has said. Don’t listen to the opinions of others when it goes against what you know to be true. Invest in yourself and protect your investment legally. Stay true to who you are and always believe in yourself. Just because things don’t look the way you want them to look doesn’t mean that you’re doing something wrong or that things won’t change. Everything happens in it’s due time and season and there is a time and season for everything.
As a very young child I took a liking to cooking. I would watch my mom cook and ask a thousand questions and she would answer them and let me help her. I started cooking on my own at the age of ten (10). I’m a self taught chef. Lol I love cooking and watching others eat what I’ve created. The quietness while eating, the smiles, the all of a sudden sleepiness that comes over them after eating, it warms my heart. I love getting compliments about how good my food taste. And the million dollar question that led me to creating my own seasoning blends, “how did you get it to taste like this?” I would get asked this so much. No matter how I would explain the steps to them, they still couldn’t get it. So now I have three low sodium seasoning blends that I am very proud of. They are healthy and can be used with any diet. One day they’ll be in stores around the world. So be on the lookout for Roc-N-Food®️ in a store near you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from Louisiana, so I’m always looking for things to do here that gives me that “home away from home” type feeling. There’s a lot of interesting and fun things to do here. Of course I can’t name them all, but just a few to name would be Prospect Park, Houston Grub Park, Lost & Found, Phil & Derek’s, The Boardwalk in Cypress, Taste Bar & Kitchen, New Spot Eatery, Turkey Leg Hut, Herman Park, and I can’t leave this goldmine out, LTK. It’s the crawfish for me! I know there’s a lot of other places that I didn’t mention, but I’m sure you can tell that I’m a foodie and I love a good vibe from the places I mentioned. Lol it’s just in me! But these would definitely be some places that I would want them to check out.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to my family. They have been such a huge blessing to me during this time of building. I thank God for them! There has been many times that I have been discouraged and felt like I can’t do this. And they were the ones who had my back and pushed me. It’s very encouraging when you have people in your corner who sees your gifts and talents and refuse to let them lie dormant. You have to move on that! For that I’m grateful! Thank you fam! I love y’all!
