We had the good fortune of connecting with Rocio Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rocio, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Making sure I take time for myself every morning before I do anything else like having devotional time, working out, walking my dogs. While I am on the road I am always listening to podcasts, reading either a self help/real estate book once a month. Being intentional every day on how I can make my business thrive better than it did the day before. Wether it is talking to people, keeping up with the daily activities that are required of me. And also being open to learn from the people who have been in this field longer than I have.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am proud that I took a leap of faith and changed my career to become a real estate professional. Because of my personal experience, I am aware that it can be intimidating and stressful to purchase a house or sell a house. My goal is to always have my clients feel comfortable with me and see me as a close friend who they can always count on to guide them in the process. I like to be recognized as a dedicated, trustworthy, and dependable individual, one that will go the extra mile for their clients. This is a huge factor in my business because without those you can only get so far in this career. The key to my success is consistency and creating habits and since real estate is what you make of it. I quickly realized I had to show up every day to grow my business. Starting with taking time for myself every morning before I do anything else like having devotional time, working out, and walking my dogs. While I am on the road I am always listening to podcasts, and reading either a self-help/real estate book once a month. Being intentional every day on how I can make my business thrive better than it did the day before. Whether it is talking to people, or keeping up with the daily activities that are required of me. And also open to learning from the people who have been in this field longer than I have. One lesson I learned along the way is not to stress about the things I can not control, when I first started real estate I came across so many bumps on the road that at times would have me up at night. But then I quickly realized it wasn’t doing me any good stressing over things that were out of my control. So I would just pray about it and allow things to work themselves out. Once I started to let go of that I was able to adapt better with any change that came my way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For breakfast, I would take them out to this awesome place called Cucharita where they serve authentic Mexican food with a twist of nontraditional baked goods that we call pan dulce (sweet bread) or to Snooze because their french toast is delish! During the day time, I would take them to Buffalo Bayou Park for either a walk or a bike ride. Shop at the Galleria mall or visit small boutiques like X Label Apparel, check out the art in downtown Houston followed by a sweet treat at EatCakeBar. Pinkerton’s barbecue would be a go to place, their barbecue is phenomenal! At night time I would go watch a show at the Performing Arts Houston, Painting with a Twist, or walk around downtown Houston.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout to my broker Lisa Benoit who is always going the extra mile for her agents!
