We had the good fortune of connecting with Rocky Giesler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rocky, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Great question. Ultimately, my dream was to always have my own business. In 2018, when I got pregnant with my first child, I really started thinking about the future and wanted to start investing into it not only for me, but more so for my children.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
First off, I am very proud of myself for finally taking the lead in my own life and jumping in with two feet. It does take a lot of courage to start your own business. What is important is that you surround yourself with like-minded people that will inspire you and push you.

Growing up I have always been creative. I love art as a kid; drawing, painting, pottery, etc. And being raised in Hispanic family the standard was to always get a degree. I tried and I failed many times. I was also discouraged from painting professionally, until I landed an opportunity to work at a prestigious makeup counter in 2007.

With grace, I was hired at MAC Cosmetics and would then have a 5 year long reign until ultimately I felt it was time to part ways. And that’s how I entered the world of beauty.

It was definitely difficult at first, because one needs to build clientele for steady business. The key is consistency! Stay consistent and hard work will pay off. While there were many highs and lows, different season in life if you will, in those moments I always had to step back asses and push forward. Now I’m 2022, I finally own my own studio in west house. I am very proud of my accomplishments!

I want people to know that makeup artistry is my talent, but making people feel beautiful and connecting with them is my passion. Many of my clients become my friends. I strive for excellence in everything I do and hold a high standard for customer satisfaction.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh gosh there are so many places! Okay so first we have to visit Montrose area. I love how eclectic Montrose is and the many shops they have. We would have lunch at Cafe Brazil. Then we would visit Tiny Box Woods for their Milk and Cookies for something sweet! I would take them to the Houston Museum of Natural Science because it’s one of my favorite museums. Then we would visit the Museum of Fine Arts Houston because duh, ART! We would definitely have dinner at Miakos Sushi and one day visit St. Arnold’s Brewery! the list goes on!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband definitely gets major credit. He continues to encourage and push me to go outside my comfort level. And he is my biggest supporter!
