We had the good fortune of connecting with Roddrell Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roddrell, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My business RTS KINGDOM TRAINING started with a vision from God. The initial vision came in 2013. I however did not start doing it until 2017. I was still living in Louisiana. The thought process is to teach the things I learned from my playing careers to kids to help them develop and be successful in the sport of football. It is and has also been my goal to not only develop each athlete I encounter athletically but mentally, spiritually, psychologically, and overall as a complete human as best as possible.
My goal is and has always been to develop Offensive and Defensive Lineman in the Offseason and offer In Season support. I want my guys to master Fundamentals and the Basics. I also want them to be elite in their development as time goes on. I believe they should strive for GREATNESS and aim to be the Best. I want them to take the lessons from athletic development into their lives after sports ends. Ultimately I want them I want them to know I love them and they are supported in all aspects. The vision has always been to serve a undeserved position and use it as an opportunity to be a ministry. Coaching is a Ministry.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart?/How did i get here? I mean this will always lead back to God. I am where I am and who I am because God’s hand has been on me. He has blessed me with a gift and I just use it. I am using the body he gave, brain that allows to think the way it does. and ultimately the gift he allows me to use to change lives. Was it easy? NO, I have done a lot of footwork to activate my faith, I have been to numerous camps, talk to alot of people, Made a lot of calls, been rejected, looked over, talked about, been stood up, and numerous others things that I have had to endure to become where I am now. Nothing in life worth having is easy. i mean i have sacrifice a lot to get where i am and trying to go. How i overcame challenges? I overcame the challenges by keeping the faith while also making changes to how i do things or within my thought process. Life is about having endurance and perseverance. Its easy to shout when everything is good but can you be faithful even in hard times. i try my best to live what i PREACH to my kids. Lessons I have learned? I learn if you trust God and let him lead whatever he is leading you to will prosper. I am living witness of Gods goodness and mercy. I can testify of Psalms 1:3 NKJV
[3] He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. What I want the world to know? I First want the world to know of the goodness of Jesus Christ. Some will ask will ask why so much talk about God? It is simple without God No me, No God No business, No God No real success NO God No Jesus No Jesus No Salvation. I want people to know no matter what when this life is over and no matter how much you accomplished if Jesus not your savior there is no real success. I am because HE LIVES. The best is Still Yet to Come.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well if my best friend comes to town good food and cigars will be in the plans for sure. He loves Perry’s Steakhouse famous pork chops its a place I take people sometimes. I will take him or my brother to a nice cigar place. I am really chill. I also have a BBQ place I love called Southern Q. I do not do a whole lot. I am not a clubber or anything like that. I like laid back settings where there is a potential to network.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am going to always acknowledge God first and Last because he is the Alpha and Omega of all things. He gave me the brain, vision, experience, resources, clients, and all success I have had and will have. Because of God he allowed me to have great community of people who has helped me be where I am. I had a great pastor and mentor who is now gone to be with God, Rev. Jesse B. Bilberry Jr who spiritually made a tremendous impact on my life in which i still share some of those lessons with my clients. I had good coaches who allowed me to learn from them during my playing days and afterwards. I had a good friend Coach John Jenkins who I first shared the vision with who has and still encourages me when we talk to continue this work of ministry. I cannot forget my only brother Reginald Stewart Jr who was probably the only person to encourage me to pursue my purpose when I left ExxonMobil in 2018 to go after this.
