We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Gieseke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had been in the hospitality industry for most of my career, and had begun working at a local wedding venue part time shortly after leaving college. I was able to meet and work with so many wonderful vendors and experience the flow of hundreds of weddings. With the ability to collaborate with another local business, I started my own Planning company in 2014 and immediately started working with couples who desired some organization and assistance with planning and logistics. My passion has become helping couples work through the planning process with ease, focusing on their priorities, wants and must haves and navigating tricky situations with tact.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I think what sets me apart from other similar businesses is my approach to planning. I generally work well with couples or individuals planning a wedding or event who know what they want or the direction they want to go in, but don’t want to do the ground work, research or tedious tasks. I enjoy navigating tough situations and helping make difficult decisions. Collaborating with a creative team who are all invested in the vision for the event give me joy!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love stopping at some of the business markets in the Heights; we’re guaranteed to find some unique shopping for fashion, home goods and gourmet food. Stopping for brunch at Downhouse, or wine and bruschetta at Postino is a perfect addition to any weekend. The Tipping Point in downtown has a secret vintage shop in the back for some fun throw backs. A walk along the bayou and stop in Elenor Tinsley park is great for photo ops and working up a sweat!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
