Meet Savaeh Chapman | High School student, Full time baker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Savaeh Chapman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savaeh, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue my baking career because my mom. I told my mom I wanted to start selling cookies at school just talking. I came home the NEXT DAY everything on the countertop I needed to start. I had to come up with a name for my baker business and made a flyer sending it to everyone I know that went to my school. All 2022-2023 my sophomore year of high school I was selling my delicious treats at school. I made one cake for my baby sister it look a mess and very sloppy, but everyone at the party said it tasted amazing. I told my mom I didn’t want to make cakes anymore because it was “ too hard”. She put together a 1on1 with her friend that is a baker for me learn the basics of decorating cakes. The next school year 2023-2024 we got a new principal and he stop me from selling so I had to come up with an alternative to make money and continue my baking business. God directed me into me into something WAYYY BIGGER than I could imagine. Now I am a 17 year old custom cake/treat maker.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a full time high school student. While still managing to run a full time baking business by myself. I am most proud of my expanding my baking business by making custom cakes, various amounts of different flavors of cookies, all kinds of dipped treats and my newest addition homemade ice cream. My mother pushes me so much to be the successful young entrepreneur I am today. I sometimes struggle with managing my real life schedule and my business schedule. I started to block off my schedule on different days so I can regroup from all the stress I sometimes have from orders. I want the world to know it doesn’t matter how old you are you can start your own business with doing the stuff that you love. I find so much joy when my creations comes together how i play and the customers loves the creations as much.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We will drop her bags off at the airbnb. We will go to an arcade spend 1-3hrs. Then go out to eat catch each other up about life. We will go check out a couple museums to get really pretty pictures. We will of course eat again.
