We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah Vanity and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Savannah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had recently moved to Houston just married, 4 children no friends & broke. I’ve always had a passion for hair and fashion but after having children I kind of loss my love for those things being a mom. I was 3 years in & I was over working myself just tired, frustrated but knew I wanted more for myself & for my family. So I set on this journey of self awakening and began revisiting my talents, hobbies & passions.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of where and how far my business and brand will take me. I know I’ve got a long way to go. I’ve studied alot of different business moguls, done alot of research and learned from other businesses what will & won’t work. It hasn’t been easy! People see Savannah’s Vanity & think oh my how pretty, how well put together but behind all that pretty it was long long nights , tears, 2 previous failed brands. I’ve had to start, stop & start again to get the results I want. & even in this last year of business I’m starting to see the hardworking really pay off & open doors for me. I’ve learned to overcome my challenges with compassion for myself ( its ok not to know it all) to not have it all together but it’s a learning experience just never allow yourself to be or feel so defeated that you give up. Sometimes we are our toughest critics & that self-sabotage will be a joy killer. And I’ve had to learn to always be teachable. I want the world to know that Savannah’s Vanity is brand of self empowerment, self acceptance & love. No matter in jeans, dress or lingerie you have to feel whole, you have to love all of who you are where you are in life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This would turn into a scene from ” bad moms” lol mmmmm ok!. We are going to Dish society for brunch Then hit up places like Turkey leg hut & pour behavior for lunch and drinks . I love to laugh so great show at the Improv would really be ideal for us. And we would most likely end the weekend in South Pardre, Galveston on the beach rising jet skis or something
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My this list is long ! But if had to pinpoint it would be my husband Damon & my cousin in law Karian Durham of Komplexxblends. These two have seen the tears the defeat and crazy & still managed to be encouraging I owe them a hug thank you. Also my beautiful friend Akira Hussle of Modepressed. She’s been my rider
