We had the good fortune of connecting with Shahroze Khan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shahroze, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
I recently read “The Power of the Actor”. It’s an amazing book and I’d recommend it to all the actors out there. It shows you a step by step technique to maximize your scene study and get the most out of it. It helps in developing your process of creating a real, believable character that you & the audience can connect to. Everything is broken down into simple terms so it’s easy to understand and learn. It’s contributed greatly to my development & growth as an actor by giving me a better, deeper understanding about the technique of acting realistically.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an actor currently based in Houston, Texas. I’ve been working in the film industry professionally since 2015 and I love it. I believe what sets me apart from others in this industry is my determination & diversity. I have a vision for success pictured in my head and I’m committed to following it. I work on my craft daily and always try to do things that push me closer to achieving my goals. My ethnic diversity & being multilingual is an asset for me in this industry because films & TV shows nowadays are wanting to cast more people of different ethnicities and backgrounds which is a great positive change going forward. I’m proud of many previous film, TV & commercial productions I’ve been a part of. Some past commercials include Adidas & Beats Headphones with Houston Rockets Star James Harden, Amazon, Texas Workforce Commission, Whataburger and more. Some past film & TV productions I’ve been a part of include “More Than Enough” (Feature Film), “They Can’t Deport Us All!” (Netflix Special), “Roxanne” (Feature Film), MTV’s “Video Love” Season 2 (TV Series), “Day 5” Season 2 (TV Series) & more. I was also the lead in a Bollywood Music Video by artist “KSA” called “Party Tera Bhai Dega” which has gained over 3.2 million views. More recently, I was cast in the Netflix Original Series “Special” and played the role of Colton in episode 6 which was an amazing opportunity that I’m very grateful and proud of. I’m super excited about being part of Sonic Drive-In’s new print ad campaign called “This is How We Sonic” which went live nationwide in February 2020 on billboards, magazines, posters, social media, etc. I’m also excited about a new crime series releasing later this year called “Be Someone” where I played the role of Detective Jamil, and a horror feature film which will be going into production later this year as well called “Halloween Party” where I’ll be portraying the role of Bryce. I started acting in 2015 and have gotten to where I am today greatly due to my “never give up” mentality. It hasn’t been easy, and this industry is tough. It can effortlessly kick you down, but that’s where you have to stand back up and keep moving forward. I’ve dealt with plenty of rejection throughout the duration of my career so far. Ever since I started, I’ve been getting rejected from potential opportunities, but I kept pushing through to find more opportunities and that’s how I overcame that challenge & achieved some success. I continue to do this and still have a long way to go, but I’m committed to my passion and determined to keep moving forward. I want the world to know that pursuing your passion and dreams in life is difficult and lonely at times but having that purpose in life and feeling the genuine satisfaction and happiness you get from achieving those goals is priceless.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s plenty of cool spots to check out in Houston. Some places I’d take them to would be the Galleria Mall, Buffalo Bayou Park, Museum of Natural Science, Museum of Fine Arts, Kemah Boardwalk, Pleasure Pier, and the Rooftop Cinema Club. Houston is known for its food scene and some restaurants I’d take them to are Aga’s Restaurant, Thai Gourmet, M&M Grill, The Breakfast Klub, Kasra Persian Grill, Spindletop and the classic Whataburger.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to all the people who have supported me & shown love over the years. I really appreciate you all and the encouragement means a lot.
