We had the good fortune of connecting with Shamone Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shamone, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The single most important decision I made, aside from working for myself, was deciding that my success would never just be about me—it would be about my family and where I come from.

I grew up in a small country town called Nome, Texas, with a population of just over 500 people. We have only one red light, and I didn’t grow up rich. My mom and dad split up when I was young, but one thing about my family is that we stick together. Both sides get along, and we gather every weekend and every holiday. The turnouts are always insane, but that’s just who we are tight-knit and full of love.

My mom and aunt made sure my sister and I never went without, no matter what. As a little girl, I would always say, “When I grow up, I’m going to be so rich.” Not just for myself, but for my family. I dreamed of taking care of them, giving back, and showing them things they’d never experienced.

That mindset of giving back and carrying my family’s love and values into everything I do is what drives me. It’s what made me work hard, stay focused, and push through every obstacle. Success, for me, isn’t just personal, it’s a way to honor my roots and the people who shaped me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m so excited to share more about my work and journey! What truly sets me apart is my relentless drive, dedication, and passion for excellence in everything I do. Whether it’s my tax business, my creative ventures, or my efforts as a mother and entrepreneur, I put my heart and soul into ensuring I deliver something meaningful and impactful.

I’m most proud of the lives I’ve been able to touch and the opportunities I’ve created, not just for myself but for my family and community. What excites me the most is the endless possibilities for growth and the chance to inspire others to chase their dreams, no matter where they start.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. I come from a small town with humble beginnings, and I’ve faced my fair share of challenges, moments of doubt, financial struggles, and the balancing act of pursuing my dreams while caring for my family. But I’ve always believed in hard work, prayer, and resilience. When obstacles came my way, I reminded myself why I started and leaned on my faith and family to keep going.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are invaluable. I’ve learned to embrace the process, to be patient with myself, and to trust that every setback is a setup for something greater. I’ve also learned the importance of staying true to my values and not being afraid to step out of my comfort zone.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I’m deeply committed to excellence and service. My work is a reflection of my story, a story of perseverance, faith, and an unyielding desire to make a difference. My goal is to inspire others, especially those who may feel like their circumstances are holding them back, to dream big and work hard because anything is possible with determination and faith.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I used to love going out it was so much fun for me! But now, my idea of a good time has shifted. These days, I’m all about great food, meaningful conversations, and experiences that leave me feeling recharged and inspired. Whether it’s a fabulous brunch, a relaxing spa day, or getting dressed up for a networking event, that’s where you’ll find me.

I’m also a country girl at heart, so anything outdoors, live music, outdoor markets, or events under the open sky always gets me excited. And if there’s a big game in the city, you can bet I’ll be there cheering and enjoying the energy of the crowd.

Here’s a little itinerary of where I’d take my best friend for a weeklong trip:

Day 1:
• Start with a relaxing spa day to unwind. (Post Oak Spa – inside Post Oak Hotel)
• Dinner at a cozy steakhouse or seafood spot to set the tone for the week. (Steak 48 or Toca Madera)
• Cocktails & Conversations (Sophie)

Day 2:
• Brunch at a trendy spot in the city. (Doves)
• Spend the afternoon at a local outdoor restaurant. (Toulouse or Bari)
• Evening cocktails and live music (LOV3 Houston)

Day 3:
• Attend a networking event or stylish dinner party (getting dressed up is a must!).
• Catch a big game to soak up some excitement. (Houston Rockets or Houston Texans)

Day 4:
• Explore a scenic outdoor trail or park for a peaceful morning. (Memorial Park)
• Lunch at with a view. (Bloom & Bee)
•. A Fun Cocktail Making Class (William Price Distilling)
• Relax with a movie night (IPIC or Star) or game night at home.

Day 5:
• Breakfast (Sunrise Houston)
• Spend the afternoon at an outdoor festival or live concert in town.
•. Shopping (The Galleria)
• Wrap up the day with dinner at a restaurant. (Drake’s Hollywood)

Day 6:
• A chill day at the pool or by the water. (Post Oak Hotel)
• Evening at rooftop with good drinks and conversation. (Sunset Rooftop)

Day 7:
• Church – my church of course (The Lighthouse with Pastor Keion)
• Brunch to close out the trip (Lucille’s)

This mix of relaxation, good food, and meaningful experiences would make for an unforgettable week. These are the types of places where you’ll find me enjoying life and making memories.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The number one person who deserves the utmost recognition in my story is God. His guidance, grace, and favor have been the foundation of everything I’ve achieved. Next, I have to give credit to myself for my hard work, dedication, and unwavering drive to never give up, no matter the obstacles.

I also want to recognize my mom Lisa and my Aunt Faye who have been constants in my life. They made sure I never went without and have always been by my side, supporting me through every step of my journey. Their love and sacrifices shaped the person I am today, and I’m forever grateful for their presence in my life.
