Meet Sharon Harper | Private Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharon Harper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharon, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Our thought process is to take our combine 48 years of plant base knowledge and experience, to create a healthier life style for ourselves and family.
We decided to go back to school and graduated with our AAS in Pastry Arts 2023 ( Chef Sharon) and
Culinary Arts 2020 (Chef Aaron) at Houston Community College.
Amenet Re’z Green Lotus was cultivated while I was in school for Pastry Arts. I noticed the things I was baking had way to much white sugar and butter.
My father was a diabetic and wanted to try some of the items but I knew he couldn’t.
I asked my instructors could I make my pastries vegan and still get the grade. They agreed and my dad enjoyed it all. That is when I decided to see what the community would think. I spoke with Chef Aaron who has been in this lifestyle for over 30 years and he said let’s do it.
We have expanded our vision outward to the Houston community for the past 4 years.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are still evolving. Our vision is focused on plant base/vegan pastries and dishes. We put our spin on tradtional foods and desserts like lemon pound cake, cookies, lasagne and burgers to name a few. We also have a option for those that have health concerns (meal preps/orders).
We can tailor to your nutritional needs.
What sets us apart from others:
What sets us apart from others is our unique blend of ingredients that are not only natural but are very pleasing to the palette as well. We’re personally inviting the world into our own personal home ( plant base, alkaline, vegan, raw) recipes.
What we are most proud of and excited about:
What we are most proud of and excited about is the love and passion we have for creating our pastries and meals. There is so much love and thought that goes into each item we create, as we always have our family(customers) in mind. This culminates as our hospitality and service. We are very excited to know that our family (customers) enjoy our menu.
How did you get here business wise:
I got here by way of wanting to create healthier options for my father. His medical issues wouldn’t allow him to partake in the desserts he loved.
That within itself is what sparked our business.
Was it easy:
No! I had many trial and error moments. A lot of baking assignments in class that didn’t pan out due to the substitution of ingredients. The instructors gave me the extra time to research and redo these assignments. I am so grateful for that. I kept working at it, researching, and exprerimenting until I found my way.
What lesson have I learned along the way:
I have learned that when I don’t know (believe) in myself and my greatness, how can I expect anyone else to. I know that my baking is an extension of me.
Therefore, I show up in this world with love, service, compassion and gratitude.
What do I want the world to know about you or your brand and story:
My brand is my passion and beyond a labor of love. I created this brand with the love I have for my father and the concern for his health.
I bring that same energy to the world. All fresh and natural ingredients. As My logo says “LOVE AND LIGHT IN EVERY BITE”.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I actually had one of my best friends visit me here in Houston. We were all over the place lol! We visited a few places.
Green Seed Resturant: Very good food and customer service
Dimassi Mediterranean Buffet: We actually went there 4 time durning her visit. They have a wide variety of fresh food. Good food.
The museum of illusions: We enjoyed this.
Club 5015: We went to the Krs one concert. It was everything.
Trill burger: Now we thought because the line was wrapped around the building we would be in line long but we wasn’t.
We were in less than 20 minutes and ordering. We got our food in a timely manor. The vegan burger and fries was so good
Lindiana Kitchen: They have the best Califlower wing and jack fruit nuggets.
Phoenician: We went there to pick up a few things and found there was a live band that day.
They have two floors where you can grocery shop, order from the restaurant or have a drink and relax. The place was busy but the energy was good.
Possessions Botique: They have a variety of vendors. Everything you are looking for and some things you didn’t know you needed.
Mo Better Brews: They have a excellent menu of vegan foods, customer service and seating.
Sunshine Vegetarian Resturant: Very good vegan selection.
TFTI Selfie Museum Houston: We had a ball!
These are all the places we visited and we enjoyed each and everyone of them.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
