Meet Shawn Carreon | Managing Director/DJ

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawn Carreon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shawn, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
For me, the most important factor behind my success is God. If it wasn’t for God, then I wouldn’t be where I am today, I put Him first in everything I do.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Carreon Interests LLC is a not just a business, it is a brand. There are four businesses tied to my parent company. First and longest running business is the dj services part – KAOTIKDJS. It all started when I was a young teenager and love of music. I have been on the radio and worked in several nightclubs throughout the Houston area and it has paved the road for where I am today. I have been fortunate enough to dj for famous artists, non-profit organizations, corporate events, bars, clubs, schools, politcal figures, family, and friends, I have done them all and I am proud to say that I have enjoyed each and every one of them. Being able to meet people from all over the country and having the opportunity to travel because dj’ing is a blessing. This industry is ever-changing and being able to keep up with the new technology is a challenge within itself but we all try. Being humble in this industry is the only way to have continued success. That is the best advice I have learned and give. Don’t ever be afraid to mentor someone, it might change their story in this crazy book of life. I strive on my brand being one that people recognize and know that we are genuine and professional in everything we do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Haha, as we all know Houston is a big city with lots to see, eat, and do. I would probably take them to my favorite hole-in-the-wall spots: Dots, Del Sol, then probably head to PF Chang for dinner, take a drive to Galveston and head to Pleasure Pier or Kemah. I work at Bombshells 7 nights a week as a resident DJ and so I would have them come and enjoy drinks and music with me. Maybe take in a movie at Regal theater or maybe enjoy a night in at home with some homecooked food and family.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I would have to say thank you to my beautiful daughters, Chloe and Phoenyx, for always being so patient with daddy while I work. They are my reason for working so hard and pushing myself so that I can leave them a legacy to be proud of. Second, my team starting with, my Marketing Director, Allyson Chapa. Without her, I honestly don’t think I would be able to handle the magnitude of work that is scheduled. She is the brains and lifeline between myself and the clients we have. She keeps me in line and reminds me that all the hard work is going to pay off. My talented team of DJs: DJ Hype, DJ Filipino, and DJ PreyLewd. They are invaluable when it comes to their dedication and talent. They strive to be the best and provide entertainment for the clients. Next, Michelle Leagans – she is not only a client, she is family. She has opened the doors for me with new and exciting opportunities. I have been able to be more creative with lighting and sound because of Michelle. Next, my legal counsel, Norman Chapa. Always steering me in the right direction and protecting myself and my company. He has also written his first book, THE BRIEFCASE, and I am honored to know such an incredible man.
