Hi Shekia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I woke up one morning & asked myself two questions. One “What do you have in place to keep you going if your main source of income were to come crumbling down right now?” & Two “Are you truly happy with investing into someone else’s business & future, but not your own?” The answer to question one was “Nothing” & for question two “No.” I began to imagine the life I wanted to live. As I created this lifestyle mentally I then began to evaluate myself checking if who I was then align with whom I wanted to become. After fully accepting my flaws I was able to begin working on myself & correct the things within me that didn’t align with whom I wanted to become & where I wanted to go. I stand here today testifying that investing into yourself does pay off at the end.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Houston plus-size/ curvy model, Notary Public, Entrepreneur (owner of Medley737), A cook, I have a clothing line, Lingerie line. Currently starting a shoe line, men’s clothing line & modeling academy. Last but not least Real Estate & Nursing is on the way as well. I want to be the female version of “Jack of all trades” I strive to be everything I ever imagine! I want to do it all. Some people want it all as far as materialistic things, but I want it all in experiences, moments, memories & trades ! It wasn’t easy getting here, in fact if someone were to ask me a year ago If I would be here my answer would be “NO!” I wouldn’t have thought of this in a million years that I would be living out my dreams & building a brand that will give me financial freedom & personal time to myself to dedicate to the things that actually matter the most to me. My advice to anyone reading this is to find your “Why” seek & find your reason of being! Then begin to adjust & correct yourself in all ways so that you are in line with all the wonderful things you desire to hold.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely have to do a spa day at the “Trellis Spa” at the Houstonians maybe spend 2-3 hours there ! Rejuvenate! Then we definitely would catch brunch at “State Fare Kitchen” or “Moxies” both places are so yummy & the food is plenty for a good price!! Atomic Bottle is fun if you are down for live bar fun or maybe a fun hookah lounge! Downtown Houston is always a nice place to travel to.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to recognize my family especially my parents for the unconditional love & support they give to me. Words can not explain how much I love them & appreciate them. I could never repay them enough. My best friends Sonja & Sonia… haha (funny story) lol ! Yes, I have a set of best friends with the same name! I guess God said I needed two & I truly need them both! I am forever grateful to be blessed with these ladies.. they keep me in line, give me the real & never allow me to slip, all while loving & supporting me genuinely & wholeheartedly in everything I do. Last, but not least Ashley.. my sweet Ashley is an amazing young lady that I accidentally came across one night & she completely changed my whole mindset & life. If I had to say she was the push I needed at the time to actually bring my imagination to life & I will forever be thankful & grateful to have had the opportunity to meet this young lady & now I get to call her my friend.
