We had the good fortune of connecting with Shlomi Weinberger MaLomi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shlomi, what are you inspired by?
What inspires me is mostly observation and listening (: I like to read and research a lot of topics for example, I like to listen to people and music to refresh my mind it causes my imagination and thoughts to be open to things that I don’t know and don’t understand.
I also like to make mistakes by trying things oposite to it’s regular way. that way it makes me laugh and gives me new idea that I wouldn’t have thought about, without the mistakes. It teaches you to be better and to look curiously on art. It is above all to know how to observe and listen inside and out.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
some of my days are meeting new musicians listen to their art and mostly I produce and shape the sound. I enjoy the ssesions with people and the magic that happens during. I love to deconstruct the raw materials I get and build them in a diffrent way. I’m always tring to find uniquness in the flow of the song. I like the process of searching the right emotion in every part of musical piece.
I learend along the way that there is no right or wrong in music, there is not one way a production should sound like, a constant search and learn is my way to stay tuned and original.
nothing is easy but the bumps in the road teaches us to be better in what we do. I think I’m a realy good listener and it makes musicians open and share with me their inner world, they trust me and my knowledge to traslate it and add it to their music.
I see it as a great privilege to take part in the process of creating new music.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Tel Aviv Israel is one of the best cities in the world. The sun, the beach, the markets, friendly people, excellent food you can sit and never feel alone. there is always someone to talk too or jam with. Great night life, bars and coffee place etc… If someone decide to come, reach me and I will show you around.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So first of all a lot of credit goes to my daughter and my wife for making me laugh and filling my heart and soul I think they are my greatest achievement. Additionally I grew up and live in Israel, one of the most magical and complex places in the universe.
It made those who grew up here to be creative and talented, as people who live in a pretty crazy world so that in itself forces us to find creative solutions.
Our depth and ability is rooted from childhood that everything is possible especially when there are no options. Every experience, encounter, every mistake, problem I try to adopt as a lesson in life. I think that part of my success, if I’m not mistaken, is the ability to approach music as a right and with respect, a little humor and knowing how to observe and listen.
