We had the good fortune of connecting with Shy (Shady) Royal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shy (Shady), we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well, the idea of launching the podcast came from many deep conversations with my friends during the Pandemic. We all went through different relationship and personal struggles during this time, and used group Facetimes as a way to stay connected, and give each other advice. So I (Shady) randomly mentioned wanting to do my own “Red Table Talk” type show, and then reached out to Chelsei Rae, Nocturnal. and Ezzy, and brought the idea to them, and that’s how we became The Rudely Honest Podcast crew.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Shady is an IT Security Specialist/Creative Nocturnal is an Security Professional/Creative
Chelsei Rae is an Artist/Creative
Ezzy is an Artist/Creative

Professionally we all have gone through the struggles of being up and coming entrepreneurs and still being an employee for someone else. All of our journeys are different and in no way have been easy, but those struggles molded us into who are today, and it aides in the diversity of the 4 hosts of the show. Contrary to popular belief we were all strangers before forming this Podcast, Shady is the common denominator that brought the rest of us together, We are four, young, black, and gifted individuals that can come together to have honest conversations about real life, without being biased, or disrespectful towards one another or anyone else. “Baltimore Has Something to Say!”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Baltimore has so many different things to see and do, one of the most popular hang out area/Tourist attraction is Downtown Baltimore/Inner Harbor/Fells Point area, that area has good bars, food locations, local small businesses, shopping etc. It’s sits on our Waterfront and provides great views of the City. If we wanted to party there are some nice nightlife places we could go to as well, like Dubai Hookah Lounge, which is managed/promoted by one of our friends. It gives you the ratchet, but fun vibe, all in one place LOL. Honestly, we try our best to venture out of the city more because we all grew up here, and most people don’t get to leave the city. What’s fun to a visitor may not be fun to us anymore, but we can definitely still show anyone a good time. Baltimore is full of hidden gems, historical landmarks, including famous locations that have been shown in Movies and TV Shows.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would really like to shout out Yung Crusay & No Heart No Hustle Clothing Company, TRUTH Outfitters, and also AYO Boutique/Studio 23 in Baltimore. Cru is our first sponsor and she puts us on everywhere and we appreciate her. Ayo Boutique/Studio 23 (Owner Durrell Paige) this is the Podcast’s home and he does a great job of putting Black Owned Brands from all over on in one location, so everyone can be successful. TRUTH Outfitters Clothing (Alex Banks) is our second sponsor and friend to the show.
