We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonal Kulkarni and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sonal, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Most entrepreneurs begin their journey by falling in love with the solution to a real problem they perceive. That is to say, it’s not as common to find someone who sat down and thought, “What business should I start?” Rather, the majority of entrepreneurs recognize a problem that exists and build their business around a solution. Whether this is a problem they have personally experienced, or something their friends, family, or those in their current industry wish they had access to, these small moments of “man, I wish that existed,” often serve as the spark that inspires a new business. Similarly I had a health problem for years which I struggled with after going through several options and so called treatments, i finally found my balance with some medical intervention and the right kinds of exercise, I decided that this is what I want to share with my community. When I found SPENGA I truly had my “AHA ” moment and this was a win-win—not only do i get to start my own business and work for myself, but my business had the potential to change the lives of others , and improve the industry as a whole.

What should our readers know about your business?
SPENGA- Unlike any studio of its kind, SPENGA combines three essential elements of fitness to create what’s simply known as the best workout ever. We believe strong bodies and minds are created through the power of ride, rep, revive. And when your fitness routine works, life just works too. That’s why each 60 minute SPENGA session boosts your endurance, strengthens your muscles and restores your body through a combination of spin, HIIT training and yoga. Unlike boutique fitness studio we believe in exceptional customer service which we are very proud of and are always excited to serve our members and community. There’s no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has added to small business challenges around the world, regardless of size, location, or financial situation. Being a new small business owner definitely has it’s own challenges from there being a huge learning curve in every aspect of the business. What I have learned is that hard work, dedication, persistence, and perfecting the processes will help me succeed. COVID-19 has not only accelerated but added to the learning curve. The journey of an entrepreneur is not easy but definitely rewarding. I am totally convinced that SPENGA offers the most complete workout that can easily be incorporated into todays busy lifestyle. I am enthusiastic about SPENGA making a positive difference in our community, and that’s what keeps me energetic everyday!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I really like that Sugar Land is a vibrant and diverse community with so many different cultures and cuisines available within your city! If I think in terms of the general Houston area, the options just explode. If I were to plan a week long list, I would definitely work in a lazy afternoon around Town Center, a trip to the Kemah Boardwalk, a day trip to the Galveston sea front, our awesome Houston Zoo, and of course take in the greats in the Museum District. One can’t talk about Sugar Land and Houston without some gastronomic bliss, but there are so many great places it’s hard to name them all! You crave it, we have it. Last but not least, we have some of the best shopping, so the Galleria is a must, as are the outlet malls in Cypress.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Alright, Jumping right in ! I would definitely like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to my Best Friend (My Husband) Vikram KULKARNI for always being there for me and helping me in every step of the way, whenever and wherever I have needed him in this process. I could not have asked for more support, mentorship, love and encouragement from anyone.
