We had the good fortune of connecting with SSadia Ahmed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SSadia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My purpose was crystal clear when I thought about starting Munaari. As you know Munaari does varieites of themed based fashion shows & other small scale events in Houston, Texas. So, I thought to give wings to all aspiring models or any talent related with fashion industry irrespective of height, weight, ethnicity, colour or gender. Grow & let grow is the thought process. In modern lexicon, this is called empowerment. Initially started with just women, now we have males & kids too.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
“Nothing is easy in this world but nothing is impossible either “. With this thought process I have ever taken the risk to start something from scratch. Despite being into medical billing profession earlier, I had always creative driven passion. Right from writing quotes, thought process, poems or stories, to photography, interior designing,, fashion designing, event coordinator ,event decoration, makeup, styling I have been inclined towards everything & tried hands on all. Recently got into hosting radio show as well. When I started Munaari in 2019, (a platform for all unique women in the field fashion & modeling), I didn’t have idea that it would be this successful in the short span. We have been published in local print media. Had television interviews. I am recipient to ” woman empowerment award 2019″, “Fashionista award 2020”, & “community Leader award 2020”. It feels great for such honour by everyone including you. I feel humbled & yeah responsibility increases. Munaari caters opportunity to everyone who wants to get into fashion shows & are hesitant of their size, shape, height, weight. We welcome you with wide arms open to any community or ethnicity.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is something interesting question. Well! Would love to take her to Hermann Park which is my most scenic place in Houston. One can spend awesome time while doing picnic, photography, playing or even just gazing around. The place is so much fun. Then to Museum of Natural Science, aquarium, indoor sky diving & more some cool places to hangout. For food, personally I prefer middle east food, Chinese, American & Italian other than ofcourse South Asian cuisine. So my favourite in town is ” Kasra” for Persian food, Sayyad Mediterranean grill for Arab food, Alings Chinese for Chinese, 9’ers grill for American Aga’s, biryani pot, Shinwari for Desi food. Week is over now I guess. ( :D)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my shoutout to my husband. He has been consistent support in my thick n thin. His respect, trust, love & care boost my confidence to win anything around me. So, this keeps me calm & sober as well. Basically grounded. Another shoutout to my mother. Though we all know mothers are epitome of sacrifice & love, my mother has brought us up single handedly in the toughest of the situation & inculcated all 4 daughters how to stand strong even the situation is odd.
