Meet Daly Mcpherson: Esthetician & Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daly Mcpherson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daly, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I always try to stay and think positively. Journaling has always played a big part of my thoughts and successes. From writing down great ideas to being able to vent on paper. I have never been afraid to ask for help. Nothing is wrong with asking for help and there is never a dumb question. No one is perfect and being able to reach out to others is so empowering. Another amazing habit that i adore is always trying to surround myself with positive and goal driven people.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Growing up I knew college was not for me. I always enjoyed the beauty industry. By the time I was 18 years old I had my high school diploma and a dual Cosmetology and Esthetician license. In beauty school I didn’t learn much. I knew I wanted to find a job in a salon that continued education. I got a job in a salon and spa in Michigan that I learned everything from pedicures to hair color. But for some reason body waxing just stuck with me. I had the personality plus the heart to make people feel comfortable during a very intimate or uncomfortable service. Than after a couple of years I moved to Nashville to practice just body waxing. I worked in a body waxing studio for 5 years. A major challenge I am across towards my 5th year working at the studio I realize I was not getting payed for my hard work. I finally pulled the trigger and quit to start my own business. Financially it was hard at first but i made it through the hard times. A great lesson I learned was to ask for help and reach out to my amazing resources. My Body Waxing Studio is doing amazing going on 3 years.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the outdoors. So I would take my friend out on my canoe for a little adventure. Than one of my favorite affordable downtown Nashville hotels is The Drury. It has the biggest outdoor hot tub/pool! Than of course do a east Nashville bar crawl making sure we end at the dive bar Mickeys Tavern or Dinos Pizza. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to start out with a shoutout to my father Kevin McPherson! As the only girl sibling in my household, my father has always treated my two bothers and I as equal. We all had to work hard in school, participate in after school activities and have a part time job. He molded me into becoming a strong independent and confident women. To this day my father is my biggest fan and will always support any career path I take. Another major shoutout would be to my dear friend/mentor the beautiful Lisa DiVito! We started as coworkers than blossomed into a friendship. When i was debating on leaving my job and going off to start my own business she was the FIRST person that pushed me and believed in me. I have always looked up to her. Lisa is so kind and has the biggest heart. She has always put others before herself. Words cannot describe how thankful I am to have my father and Lisa in my corner!
