We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacy Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacy, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I now truly know what work life balance should look like. It’s not always about the money and it’s amazing what you can truly live on and be totally happy and not always compensating time for possessions. I have true freedom and quality time with family and friends. When I worked for 32+ years in a retail career working g 3 of 4 weekends and holidays year after year I always had to choose literally 1 function a month that I could be with family my only retreat is that I didn’t make this leap of faith sooner.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got into photography thru a series of events that kinda just happened. Always passionate about photography as a hobby, but my boyfriend seeing my talent really pushed me to do more and step out and take a risk. My entire career was launched with a pair of bald eagles! We were spreading my dads ashes on lake Sam Rayburn with 16 people and 2 boats when out of no where 2 bald eagles circled the boat and landed! I grabbed my camera and got shots off then for Mother’s Day my boyfriend had that picture blown up and put on a canvas for me and said you can do this!! You can sell this! It took several other things to fall into place but we agreed and decided I would give it a go for 1 year and at least see what’s out there! I now do weddings, birthdays, events and family photos along with my wildlife and landscape fine art photography on my website! The challenge was I know how to take photos and have a gift of having an eye for what make a truly great photograph and what makes a memory but running a photography business is a whole new beast! Marketing social media websites and booking clients is a building process and it takes a lot of patience and stamina. Having a firm foundation, and a cheering squad for you at home is the most important thing!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have several places in Houston that represent out state at its best! First I would take them to visit the pair of bald eagles that live in the woodlands and watch them bring in another newborn as they have done for 20+ years, then we would have to eat at pappasittos! And have a wave margarita and there famous queso! Then depending on time of year the rodeo is a must! Crumble cookies and finish off in the rice area for some little Woodrow’s and fabulous homes of that iconic area of town

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This goes out to my late father. My dad was the hardest working person I have ever known. I get my work ethic and sense of morals from his example. He made the move at 50 to own his own business and never looked back I remember him saying I just wish I had done it sooner. He also was passionate about photography and always wanted to make that his career but putting food on the table and a mortgage always tied him to the grind so I am picking up where he left off and bringing that to fruition in his honor
