We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Briggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I honestly believe taking risks goes hand in hand with opportunity. For example, if I didn’t take the risk to start my career and work towards something new, I wouldn’t have been anywhere close to where I am now. Everyday I take the risks to fight through doubt on my craft and keep pushing forward. Life is essentially nothing without risks.

What should our readers know about your business?
– I started my business one year ago during quarantine when covid-19 came into the picture. I had so much time on my hands, so I decided to pursue my passion of being a nail tech (which is something I had been pushing off for a long time). I believe my perfectionist personality inspired me to do nails because I knew if I started, I would be amazing at it !

– Starting off it wasn’t easy balancing my college classes and being a nail tech/practicing my craft. At first it was very challenging when school started back up in the fall of 2020, because it was something I definitely had to make time for along with homework. However; as time went on with trial and error, I found a schedule that works perfect for me and my clients.

– As I progressed in my nail tech journey, I also had to fight through so many feelings of doubt. I can’t even count the amount of times I felt like my craft was no where near where it needed to be. Sometimes I would even ask my self “if it was even worth it”, to keep this passion. Despite it all I kept practicing and practicing until I got better at my craft. I feel like everyone goes through these feelings of doubt. However; it’s what you do after that matters.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend downtown Houston to ride scooters. It’s honestly my favorite thing to do downtown and you get to have fun while exploring as much of the city as you can !

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My twin sister has always shown genuine encouragement and critique of my work. She has always shown support and made sure to let me know when I need to step my game up. I’m so thankful for her !
