We had the good fortune of connecting with Sumthing Beddar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sumthing, how do you think about risk?
I sincerely believe risk taking is the best thing anybody can adapt to, it knocked off my fear of falling, failing, and increased my resilience 10 fold. No risk not reward, life ain’t safe, why play by the rules. Make your own.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well first and foremost, I’m from Villaysia and honestly I don’t spend time thinking bout how to be different, I just do me, make the music I always wanted to hear and move accordingly. I’m most excited of my growth as a lyricist/ artist, I feel I definitely approach the canvas from a place of reality or a pure place of emotion before i write giving it an effortless feel. Shittt, I got here by destroying anything I came across, that means challenges, battles, stages, open mics, cyphers, features etc, I engineered myself to show & prove by any means. And not only that, but studying the hip hop culture and the roots of it, I forever remain a student, cause arrogance is the downfall of people’s success, So I question everything. Man, it was far from easy, if it was I wouldn’t get the feeling of fulfillment when I set out and accomplish my goals. I over came by being defiant and saying “fuckem, keep eating” honestly, got distracted recently, but we back on track. It’s just life , Adversity builds character why run from growth cause comfort kills. Lessons along the way, uhhhhhh, integrity and self respect are highly important, it is a lonely path I’ve chosen, you have to sacrifice love, family and friends. I committed to that even more as I woke up to do this interview today, on some .. if you ain’t with me you against me, so fall back. Just stay focused or suffer the consequences. So really alotta social skills and spiritual lessons. Alot of pain have come my way consistently, but in my head I know it only makes me better, it’s preparation and reminders of the outcome I hustle for and the outcomes I should avoid . I wouldn’t call it a brand, it’s more my life and legacy in my head, I want it to resonate with people with this is mind, there’s no limitations, there’s no right way, there’s no wrong way, stay true to yourself, cause in the end it’s you in that casket, so why live life vicariously through someone else who ain’t you. And my story is better explained in my music.. out on all platforms. So go stream the music. – V!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
