We had the good fortune of connecting with Susan Mobley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Susan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor in the success of Lifestyle by Susan, is that I don’t fear rejection. I don’t fear failure. I have told so many others that are wanting to start a business, blog or new venture, to JUST START! Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. If you never ask, the answer is always NO!! Guess what, if you do ask, you might just get a YES!! Some of my greatest successes have been because I asked for something that no one thought I would get. Also, you can’t let failure stand in your way. The greatest failure is to never try.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started Lifestyle by Susan because I have always loved fashion, decorating, travel and dining. My friends and family would always ask where I bought things but would be shocked when I told them the prices of things. Ya see, they think I am a little extra and fancy but they didn’t realize how frugal I really was. I love finding my deals now and getting to share with others. That’s how my Cristal Taste on a Topo Chico budget was born. I had been in network marketing for years but definitely felt confined and wanted something that was truly my own and where I could share about a lot of my favorite things. So, I decided to take a leap of faith and go out on my own. Stepping out into the unknown can be scary but for me, it’s much scarier not to do it! There is always a learning curve but reaching out to others who are having success doing what you want to be doing is important. Again, don’t be afraid to ask! I appreciated @mommystylefile for answering my questions, as well as other influencers. At the end of the day, there is abundance for everyone, and we shouldn’t see others in the same industry as competition but instead they are inspiration. I want everyone to see Lifestyle by Susan as a brand that is girl friendly, supportive and keeping everyone styled on a budget.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So, this is right up my alley because I love to entertain and love showing off the city I was born in (yes, rare native Houstonian here). I would definitely book a weekend at the Post Oak Hotel. To me the ambiance there just radiates Houston luxury and “extraness”. Their pool area is so beautiful and inviting. I am all about having fun and that is often had by fantastic people watching. I would take my bestie to Toulouse for lunch on the patio and see all the beautiful people walking by. Then we would head over to Mastros for dinner and sit by the piano and listen to the fantastic singers they host. Of course, I would have to order her my favorite dessert, BUTTER CAKE!! Yes, these are very Houston hot spot locations but that is why it would be pure perfection. Then we would brunch at Bloom and Bee, because they also happen to be in the Post Oak Hotel. Then just to break up the overtly extraness I am thinking I would take her to Houston Museum of Fine Arts. Of course, I would take some pictures for Lifestyle by Susan there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have several people who have definitely contributed to my success. Might sound cliché but my parents for sure! Even though my path to success might have not been what they saw for me, they have supported me in my adventures. Also, my daughter is my biggest fan and a little secret, my photographer for almost all my Lifestyle by Susan photos. My best friend, Laura Jorn, designer of Laura J Finery, is always cheering me on. Another secret, she edits most of my photos. So, my success has taken a fantastic village. I wouldn’t be where I am without my followers. I love their continued support and when they share my posts, there is no greater compliment!
