We had the good fortune of connecting with Tajah McCullough and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tajah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
my makeup journey began 10 years ago when i was 15 years young, it all started when i would watch my oldest cousin get ready to go out places or just even do her makeup for fun. She would try all type of different looks but she was hesitant to do looks with colorful colors like pink, green, purple, yellow you know. So that pushed me to try the things she was afraid of at the time to see if i could actually grasp the concept. So i just literally took it and ran with it ever since then i grew more love for makeup and especially since it was an escape from reality a little bit for me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
while being on my makeup journey it has definitely not been easy. building my confidence back up within myself because one thing i have struggled with is being confident in my work just being nervous about the judgement i would get but i realized that my work will never look like the next mua and thats okay i will have some who love my work, some who like my work or even some who may not like it which is fine because thats what the mua world consist of its all about pushing yourself through all of that staying confident and staying head strong through this path. My friends and family has helped tremendously!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love going to outdoor sceneries. Discovery green, parks for a pinics with my girls, taste bar in houston is actually pretty great. Anything we can find we can agree on i truely believe i dont get out enough lol
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother, she has been a big support of mines along this journey. My mother has been my main model since i began to even take a interest in makeup, she has encouraged me so much along the way she also even put money into business as in buying me makeup essentials if i ask or if need it. She doesnt understand how much she helped me begin the passion i have now today.
