We had the good fortune of connecting with Tajuana Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tajuana, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Yes. My business provide opportunities to second-chance and low-income individuals. We also provide the opportunity to decrease the unemployment rate through our job-placement program. We also take pride in our philanthropic work. We donate 10% of our profits to domestic violence and autism organizations.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Roberts Transportation & Logistics Academy provides training programs for CDL, dispatching, and brokering. Our CDL, dispatching, & brokerage training provides the knowledge, skills, and job placement support to succeed. No other training company provides all 3 services in one in our city. Our certified minority business has trained over 600 learners in 23 months. I believe we are where we are today because we provide exceptional services to our learners. We have had to change our business model to accommodate our learners during this global pandemic which wasn’t easy. We now serve more learners online for our dispatching, brokering, and a portion of our CDL program. What I have learned is to never give up on your dream or passion. I would like for everyone to know that our business is here to serve second-chance and low-income learners and provide them with the aid needed to succeed.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to an amazing spa day at the Houstonian Trellis Spa. Then from there, I would have day 2 set for an outing at the Aquarium Downtown for an amazing tour of the eels, fish, snakes, tigers, and bird exhibits. Later that evening, we would go to dinner at The Capital Grille for dinner and cocktails. To end the weekend, on Sunday, we would go to Brunch at Grace’s in the Upper Kirby area and enjoy great food, drinks, and conversation.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my amazing husband James for being so supportive and such an inspiration. He gained his certifications and has become successful in his career. He is a Master Professional Driver and he has almost 20 years of knowledge, and skills in the Transportation & Logistics Industry.
