We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Chehab and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Thank you for this question. I’ve always had this itch to do something creative, but didn’t exactly know what. I started Dana’s Touch, an events and interiors business, based out of Houston, TX, to simply add my ‘touch’ to either parties, events, or homes. I love decorating and styling and designing. These are all things that make me excited, so I decided to pursue them as a business. And, if it doesn’t workout, at least I tried.Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I wish I started earlier! Design makes me SO happy. It’s okay though, this may be the perfect time to start, who knows? I’m still at the beginning, but it is all word of mouth. If I succeed in decorating a person’s home, then they will talk about it and hopefully business will grow. The main lesson I’ve learned so far is to put a price on your talent or people take it for granted or take advantage. Even from the first consult, you have to be open about pricing.Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
OH! I love this question! SO many cool places in Houston from the museums to local coffee shops. My favorite coffee shop right now is Giant Leap. I’d take them to a cool drive in movie at the Showboat, Giant Leap, Main Chick or Rollin’ Phatties food truck in Montrose, and hit up some of the beautiful parks inner Houston.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, my husband has always been my greatest support. He saw that I was talented in this area and encouraged me to pursue it as a career. He gave me the final push to truly believe in myself and my potential.
