We had the good fortune of connecting with Tania Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tania, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a Parent I would say the most important thing I have done that causes an impact on my daughter is that I always try do things with a positive attitude, no matter how difficult the situation may be. Every single morning I wake up, tell her “Good Morning baby” and start to sing to her “This is gonna be a great day!! This is gonna be a great day!!” as I am getting her ready to drop her off with her caregiver knowing I will miss her tremendously, but just the fact that I am taking a situation that may make her sad or upset and trying to change her perspective to a good one has made her way of viewing situations change. When she falls she gets right back up brushes it off and continues to play as if nothing happened. I have noticed that children will have the same attitude as what is learned at home. Give a child love and positivity then that child will radiate love and positivity wherever they go.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I do Fine Art Photography, which is like regular photography but with some delicious seasoning of creativity and color. What I am most proud of is how far I have come in my photography journey. When ever I look back at when I first started photography to now I get extremely emotional of the results because I would of never thought I could of ever gotten to where I am right now in my art. Getting to where I am now was a very long process, a lot of learning and investing a lot of long hours practicing and editing. To get to a certain point in your art will always come with doubts, feelings of I will never get there and lots of failures but you just have to trust the process and know that YOU WILL GET THERE! no matter how far away the end of the tunnel may seem DON’T GIVE UP. I started photography at the young age of 18 not really with a purpose just with the admiration of the art. I began to really look into photography a year later by doing my research and finally realizing ” OK this is what I want my art to look like” from there I was extremely inspired by paintings and it sort of took shape into my current creations. A lot of people who view my work for the first time always tell me it reminds them of a story book or fairy tale even a painting, which is exactly what I have been trying to achieve for the past 6 years.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my bestfriend was in town I would ask her what she was in the mood for doing today, then I would ask her if she would like to go to somewhere outdoors or indoors, if she were to choose indoors I would take her to an Art exhibit that we have here in Houston called Color Factory, then we would go get some food at a small restaurant downtown. After we eat I would ask her if she wants to go to go to this awesome candy shop with unique around the world sweets, after that we would head home to watch a couple of movies and call it a day. Through out the week plan things like the zoo, visit outdoor pop up shops that sell handmade items, walk at the beach and get some seafood at a nice local beach restaurant. We would also go to an arcade, take a painting class for a week long full of fun. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a huge shout out of thanks to my Family. They have encouraged me to follow my dreams and supporting me through it all. When I need help my mother is always there for me, when I am in need of a crazy contraption for my photoshoots my father is always there for me, when I have an idea for a photoshoot my sisters and brother are always there for me to model, when I need a word of encouragement to never give up my husband is always there and when I feel down or when I feel everything I am doing is worth nothing I look at my daughter and automatically get reminded who I am doing this for. I am very blessed to have such amazing individuals in my life.
