We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Allison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Definitely investing in myself! And not just from education and mentorship directly associated with my field of boudoir photography. I’ve invested so much in personal development courses that have helped me to improve my mindset, expand my horizons, heal inner wounds, rewire my subconscious, develop my intuition, and grow as a person. It’s helped me to not only become a better business owner, but also to become a better mother, partner, friend, sister, and daughter. If you’re a small business owner, you have to remember we ARE our business. It’s a part of us. And when we invest in healing and bettering ourselves, we make our business better too.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My boudoir photography business is all about empowering other women to remember their innate beauty and worthiness through reclaiming their body autonomy and sexuality. A boudoir experience with me isn’t solely about stunning images, but about the FEELING my clients have during their session and afterwards. The feeling of remembering how powerful and magnetic they are. The feeling of embracing their divine feminine energy, loving and accepting their body in the season it’s in right now, and unapologetically stepping into their authentic selves.
It definitely wasn’t an easy road to get here – there were many years I wandered aimlessly both in my photography business and in my own self discovery and self love journey. But once I found boudoir and I felt how impactful and healing that experience was both for me and my clients, I never looked back. It taught me how powerful it is to learn to love yourself unconditionally and be your authentic self- especially in a world/society that profits off of our insecurity. It’s an act of rebellion and I’m 1000% here for it.
I want the world to know that my business and I will always be a safe and encouraging place for women everywhere to step into their power and transform their inner image, dialogue, and world. I plan to keep raising the vibration of the world for the rest of my life – one soul at a time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely several trips to Moon Tower Inn to sit down, have some local brews and amazing food, and enjoy the sunshine. I’d for sure have to take them by Sabine Street Studios to not only show them my studio space there, but also the amazing exhibits in the hallways. A visit to Cidercade would of course be a blast and Ninfa’s on Navigation is a must. Another gem that would be on the rotation would have to be Hyde Park down in Webster. Maybe a hidden gem to some houstonians because it’s down in that southeast area, but they have KILLER cocktails and grub and an amazing atmosphere.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My amazing husband, Justin (@allpilotsattheready), definitely deserves the biggest shoutout from me. Not only is he also one of the most creative and talented musicians I know, but he’s my biggest cheerleader and my best friend. The beautiful music he creates is so moving and inspirational and he’s always devoted to creating more. He’s full of brilliant insight and unwavering support and I couldn’t ask for a better partner in life.
