We had the good fortune of connecting with Christyn Breckenridge and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christyn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
eats, sleeps, & breathes the world of eyewear. When it comes to designing a frame or fitting a face , Christyn is strategic in blending her social philosophy & style influence . The Memphis raised , Houston paid enthusiast pays homage to her great grandmother & her sorority (Delta Sigma Theta) for instilling the values of community service, academic excellence & infinite fashion within her. She studied Occupational Therapy at Tennessee State University (same school as Oprah) before working in luxury real estate for 8 years. After being laid off & watching her father battle glaucoma she realized her hobby needed something more meaningful. She organized a mission around her glasses to eliminate vision problems and itā€™s consequences during her yearly overseas missionary travels. Her program collaborations w/local community based non profits & medical clinics provides vision screenings, eye exams and affordable eyewear to the underserved & uninsured. The brands monthly & now permanent pop up shops educate communities about the importance of vision care and the role it plays in literacy, society and the economy. Christyn continues to create innovative ways to build awareness about the strong connection between healthy vision and education.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
See ABOUT ME page for business description. I believe our mission (& our name obviously) sets us apart from others. Iā€™m most proud about the feedback we receive from others. Itā€™s like having daily little pats of reassurance on the back to let me know what weā€™re doing is not in vain. Business wise NOTHING has been easy. Everything Iā€™ve learned has been trial and error. I think my biggest reward comes from blessing others with that knowledge and spirit of giving though. The 3rd eye concept is heavily embedded in our infrastructure not just because itā€™s cute but because itā€™s us, wholeheartedly.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love hosting friends from out of town. Iā€™m an elite yelper so my selections are always spot on. I love seafood so the crab claws at The Rouxpour would be first on the list. Art is another favorite of mine outside of fashion so weā€™d stop by the MFAH for an exhibit premier before heading to the Galleria. Peli Peli has the best cucumber tajin martinis on Happy Hour. Iā€™m a woman of the people. Hence why our brand is community based so a good cheers bar always has my heart. Davenports is my cheers. I can always count on that spinning disco ball to work itā€™s magic. Good music, Good people, Good times

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our customers deserve all the credit for where we are today. Every purchase, every event, every referral…We’re forever indebted.
