We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Bobb and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Of course! “Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” – Babe Ruth
That is my favorite quote. I think it’s important to take risks and go after my dreams. I’m a firm believer that the fear of losing or being unsuccessful at something shouldn’t stop me from pursuing my goals. That is what the quote means to me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. Growing up I always wanted to be a nurse or pediatrician. When I started nursing clinicals in college, I immediately knew I didn’t want to be hands on with patients. I decided to switch my major early on and explored other careers in healthcare. I obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Health from Dillard University and a Master of Science Degree in Health Services Administration from the University of North Texas. I started my corporate career in the Healthcare Revenue Cycle and now I’m starting a new chapter as a Sales Professional in the Healthcare Technology industry. I’m so excited to be a black woman in tech! Outside of that, I own a virtual creative consulting agency, Real Southern Belle Consulting. I help beginner content creators and business owners tell their stories. And last but not least…I’m a content creator. Through it all the journey was never easy, but I stayed the course. I enjoy being a corporate professional, business owner, and content creator. I’ve learned that I don’t have to put myself in a box and it’s okay to explore different things. I want the world to know that there’s a real person behind the brand. I’m relatable. I don’t just share my wins, I share my losses too. It’s all a part of the journey.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is very unique and there’s always good food and fun! You can never go wrong with brunch at Lucille’s. The chicken & waffles and peach mimosas are a must. Discovery Green is a great place to hang out, explore food trucks, and view the city. Dinner at the Warwick is always a vibe. This restaurant has a great ambiance and great drinks. For take-out, Grace’s Cafe has amazing oxtails and plantain! Lastly, catching a concert at the Houston Toyota Center is always a great idea. I recently saw Burna Boy in concert and we had a time!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and my loving Fiancé have always encouraged me to be the best I can be, and have always supported my journey. This is who I dedicate my shoutout to. I’ve learned a lot from my parents and am very thankful for my upbringing. At the age of 3, my feet hit the dance floor and years later I continued on to competitive dancing and even more things. Some of these included choir, cheerleading, student council, and I traveled to Europe as a Student Ambassador. My parents made it their duty to invest in me and I truly believe this prepared me for life. I’ve learned that you win some you lose some, you have to remain dedicated to your craft, and you have to work hard for what you want.
