We had the good fortune of connecting with Team Picnic ‘n’ Charm and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Team Picnic ‘n’ Charm, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We had the idea during the pandemic. We wanted to be able to create a space for people to get out and safely enjoy the outdoors. The picnic idea came to us after participating in a pop-up picnic and realizing “hey we could totally do this!” and the idea blossomed into Picnic ‘n’ charm from there.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Picnic ‘n’ Charm (PNC) is a black-owned business ran by three women located in Los Angeles, California. We each come from diverse experiences that allow us to bring varying expertise to PNC. It is exciting to be able to work with family and collaborate on ideas for the picnics. PNC started in November of 2020 so we are still fresh and establishing our place in the event planning industry. The pandemic definitely brought out the creative side in many people and with that, we have seen other new pop-up picnic companies as well which gave us some friendly competition. However, that also gave us the drive to create a different look and experience than others were offering. We ultimately learned to not compare ourselves to others and focus on the mission of Picnic’n’Charm which is: to provide guests with a comfy, serene picnic experience that pays homage to a classic picnic in its simplicity and charm, by incorporating specially curated items from food to florals, and a picturesque setting.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow, such a difficult question because there is so much to do here in SoCal! Let’s see we would definitely have to take a hike to the Hollywood sign or Runyon Canyon, then we would find a cute selfie-worthy lunch spot like Plate & Petal or EP & LP. We would have to take a drive to Temecula for wine tasting and a scenic drive to San Diego for more delicious food and picture-worthy activities. it would not be a trip without shopping at The Grove and stopping for a bite to eat at one of the many dining choices. In culmination, we would set up a relaxing beach day picnic at one of the many beautiful SoCal beaches like Hermosa or Paradise Cove.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We want to give a special shoutout to our church family and friends for always being so supportive.
