We had the good fortune of connecting with Teej Boone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teej, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?

Starting my day early has definitely helped me succeed creatively. I’m usually a night owl. Work through the night, go to sleep when the sun comes up. But I felt like I was wasting so much time. So I made a decision to get in the habit of waking up early centering myself and commanding my day through prayer & meditation. Since doing that, I feel more charged creatively. Creativity flows through us all in different ways but I also believe that you can get in a creative flow through developing healthy habits, like an early morning ritual.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I go by Teej Boone Creative Coach. I masterfully cultivate your vision through Wardrobe Styling, Creative Direction, Graphic Design & 1:1 Coaching! I am all things creative. There is not a project, idea, event that I can’t join and immediately add value to. Betting on myself has gotten me where I am today. I realized I was all too familiar with what life was like being mediocre. I knew the results that yielded, I knew what my bank account looked like being mediocre. So I challenged myself to go all in, give this thing all I got. I told myself “just give it all you got, and if it’s not worth it, go back to being mediocre…” Let me just tell youI haven’t gone back! It’s been 3 years and it’s only looking up from here. I used to think that success and opportunities should just come to me because I’m super talented, like people should be throwing success and opportunities at me, like what is wrong with people?! However I had to realize that it was up to me, to create the life I desired to live, no one had that control but me. I decided that I wouldn’t wait for an invite, validation, an opportunity, I would build my own stage and hire myself! I want the world to know that as a creative you not only have the power to create something beautiful but you have the power to create the life you dream of, they don’t have to be separate. You are not your work, your work doesn’t define you. As you work on that creative project, work on yourself too, the most beautiful project you can ever work on. When you take the time to do that, it will indeed be beautiful!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Well I’m from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There are a lot of hidden gems here all year round but summertime is when we come alive! I would kick the trip off with a nice Italian dinner at Onesto, one of the best pasta spots in MKE, then wind down at the Saint Kate Arts Hotel as we stroll through and checkout all the new art exhibitions. Next day, maybe rooftop brunch then walk through the third ward and hit up some of my fave sneaker shops and boutiques. Later on hit up a street festival for some live music and great food. One of my favorite summer activities is bike riding at the lake, so that’s the plan for the following day and ice cream at a local shop and we’ll probably end up at another festival because there is a ton going on! I love an itinerary but I love spontaneity more, so I like to leave a little wiggle room for the adventurous unknown!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I want to shout out my Creative Circle, they know who they are! Those people closest to me, who keep me brave, challenge me creatively, hold me accountable to my values and beliefs and love me unconditionally. They are the reason I show up, I am because of them!
