We had the good fortune of connecting with Thaisy Backes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thaisy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After working 16 years as a business administration at big companies in Argentina, we move to Mexico and them US because my husband job.

Photography was my passion since I was 17 years old. So I took classes in Mexico to improve my Knowlogy and them in US during pandemic I think about start photography as a business. After doing as a hobby for family and friends.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
After 16 years working in Finance at big companies ( Metalsa, Unilever, Outokumpu) we move to Mexico because of My husband job. Circunstances allow me to do classes of Photography with Gabriela Olmedo, a Mexican world class photographer and after 1 year living in US during the pandemic I contact her with the idea of start Photography as a business. She helped me with the studio equipment and tips.

My idea was doing what I love giving the opportunity to people to have their memories in a simple and not expensive way.

So people can have more memories during the year. This is why I think about “CLICKS FOR ALL” because it is also for people that is not able to pay too much and also for all the memories people wants to click. Some families come each seasonal studio pictures (Christmas, Valentines, Easter, Mothers day, Hallowen, Fall,…) also do outdoor pictures for special moments during the year and (Graduation, MAternity, Birthday, family visit…) One friend told me “before you I was able to do only Christmas pictures”

Also I do sports pictures. I am the manager and photographer of CF10 Houston FC and my pictures are helping the club growth as we use them on social media and webpage. Also parents ask for players pictures during each season on the TYSL and NPSL leagues.

I really enjoy creating memories so everything is easier when you do it with love.

I have a big support of Brazilian conmunity in KATY area. Most of my clients are from Brazil as I am. Also latinamerican families as I also speak spanish and I know people from Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico.

My challenge now is continuing growing with this booth conmunities and also other nationalities.

I am also looking foward to do others sports pictures.

I am just starting I really enjoing each step! (1 year and a half)

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am in Houston since 2019, pandemic did not allow me and my family to explore so much but I have a list of places to visit in Houston. I also created a group @discovering_houstontx. We started visiting the city 15 days before the pandemic (BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir) started and now we are back. We went some days ago to Old town Harrisburg. A very nice place. Like a little MExico in Houston. For me it was a special moment, with a lot of memories from Mexico. Next visit will be this week will be going to Sawyeryards and hollerbeer and them smither park and the orange show. We are also planning Lucky land with the kids during vacations.

I love all the buffalo bayou area on downtown, the murals, Sawyeryards,Memorial park, Houston Arboretum. Lake Houston Wilderness park….

I really have a list of the places I want to visit around Houston.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family, my friends that always support my love for photography and always encourage me to do it as a business after we move from Argentina to Mexico and US

Also to Carlos Flores owner of CF10 Houston FC (www.cf10houstonfc.com) that gave me the opportunity to start working as Manager and Photographer of the club 2 years ago.
