We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Navarro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

It was always the dream! Starting off a little late in the game, going to hair school at 26.  I felt the need to really push myself to learn as much as I could and really focus on who I was behind the chair, so I could grow my clientele.  After about 8 years behind the chair it was finally time for me to be my own boss.  Opening my own suite with one of my co-workers Ashley, has been the best decision we ever made.  The love and support from our clients is what made it all possible.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

My journey to get to this point has definitely not been easy.  Coming from a family who is not in my life, only pushed me to grow on my own and make sure I never needed to go back to a family that couldn’t accept me for who I am.  I buried myself in work and really grew my craft by taking numerous classes and practicing on maniquins, to become the best I could be for my clients.  They ultimately  became my family throughout the years. I now specalize in Blonding, lived in color, extensions, cutting and makeup.  Continuing education is very important to me, and I will always do my best to keep up with the times, and grow with hair over the years.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Definitely Drag bingo or Brunch at ReBar or Boheme The best TEX MEX from Lupe Tortilla not to mention the black barrel margaritas
Glorias midtown for the best ceviche
The Improv for a comedy show
Soto for the Omakase and one of the best Lychee Martinis
B&B Butchers for the best Steak and Espresso Martini
Toyota Center for a concert or game, but first stop China Garden before for some amazing Chinese food
Then The Sugar room for a Death before Decafe

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I would love to credit my incredible clients I’ve accumulated along my journey.  They’re what keep me pushing and growing as a stylist. They’re my family, and I love them so much.
