We had the good fortune of connecting with Ruby Roman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ruby, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I knew I wanted a better life when it came to proving for my family. After realizing I was not happy working in corporate America. long hours, mistreatment, people looking down on me, I felt like a failure.
after several failures throughout my teen years, I knew I wanted both my kids to be proud of their mom. I was tired of being depressed and I knew there were more people feeling the same way I did too. That’s when I realized that if I can touch people’s hearts with beautiful balloons, decorations, and gift arrangements.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always believed in providing the best customer service. Whether someone is having a bad day, Our priority is to make everyone feel happy. It took several balloon courses, webinars, and in-person classes to fully understand the side of this business. It was scary at first knowing that my career consist of communication, people, and numbers, but I continue to learn and grow. The biggest challenge is doubting myself. I constantly keep reminding myself I have a purpose and a job to finish and that’s providing our customers a smile on their faces. Our balloons are unique and we created everything with passion. Every detail count.
I’m proud to be where I’m standing, it went from being a teen parent, having to leave college behind, and focusing on my family. To owning a business and being successful.
No matter what life throws your way always keep looking forward because we all have a purpose and a story to tell.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born and raised in TEXAS. One of the most exciting places everyone would love to visit and hang out would be in the month of March. Is the month of the RODEO Houston. It’s a fun Carnival and you get to enjoy all the great food, concerts and more.
Also, take them to downtown Houston to enjoy all the restaurants surrounding it and our amazing discovery of Green park. Along with our creative Art Mural walls, we honor.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Mostdefinatley I have several people along the way that I have met and have supported my small business. My husband and kids without them I would not have started this dream that continues to grow. Both my parents and sisters. Along the way, I met a group of amazing strong business Women who have been my support system for over 8 months, and continue. They become part of my family.
