We had the good fortune of connecting with Tim and Tashia Jamison and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tim and Tashia, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
My husband and I are all about authenticity. I think this is what sets us apart from any competitors. We can relate to our parents because we are enduring this parenting journey along side of them. We are all committed to the community and ensuring all of our kids win and are successful at the end of the day.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
This is our 14th year of existence here at Bright Learners Academy. We are a school even though the state classifies us as a daycare, we are proud that we are a school. Our curriculum is rigorous yet fun. If your child stays with us his/her whole early education career, he/she will be able to test on grade level or above when he/she leaves our program. All of our kids test on grade level, some of our kids test GT, and a few kids skip grades from our program. My son tested on the back end of 2nd grade. We decided to let him go to 1st grade even though he’s age appropriate for kindergarten. I always tell our parents that my job is not to skip your child a grade or two but to give you options when you are navigating the public school system when they are old enough and to have some leverage attached to your child because they are so well prepared. The local schools love our kids because they are socially and academically above par.
I am excited about our future as an organization. We are in the process of franchising to give other children in other areas of the city, state, or country an opportunity to an amazing education. We were nominated as a 2020 Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle Award Finalist as one of Houston’s best black businesses. We are expecting GREAT things in 2021.
We are dedicated to your chid’s success and academic future.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love fine dining. We love Chamaguacha or Del Friscos in the Galleria. We also love Killens Steakhouse. We enjoy the Marriott Marquis or the St. Regis Hotel all in Houston. I also enjoy a good spa day at Fiori Day Spa.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our business wouldn’t be the same without Bianca Carey at Carey Business Solutions. She has helped our business grow 350% since we took it over in 2017.
