We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Will, why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided to start a creative career in photography because art is literally what fuels me and it comes so natural to me. I come from an artistic family and I’ve always had the “eye” for creative style so it was only right for me to finally start a career in what I love. Since I was 16, I worked a regular 9-5 job but I never felt satisfied with what I was doing. I started doing photography at the age of 22 as a side hustle because I liked how it brought in extra money but I began to really fall in love with photography especially when I learned how to incorporate my own style to it. It also allowed me to meet and interact with people. I was able to learn their stories and backgrounds and I liked how they trusted me with telling their story through photography. It wasn’t until I was 26 and let go from my 9 to 5 that I realized it was time for me to do what I felt I did best and take a leap of faith to see if my photography could carry me. I have no regrets with taking that leap because I didn’t fall. In fact, I took off and soared higher than before.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My medium for my art is photography. I have a history and base in fine art and graphic design but photography stole my heart. I absolutely LOVE being a photographer. I can literally take everything I’ve learn from being a fine artist and graphic designer and apply it to my style of photography. I like being able to tell stories and evoke emotions with my photography. Playing with colors and compositions, meeting new people and seeing new places, and just finding the beauty in everyone and everything around me makes being a photographer so satisfying.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, before I thank and shoutout anyone, I’d like to thank and dedicate this to The Most Hight, my Heavenly Father for blessing me with this talent and ability. He is my everything and without Him, I wouldn’t be the creator that I am today. I’d also like to at least take the time to thank everyone who has supported me thus far and those new supporters that I anticipate in the future. If it wasn’t for them and my small circle of supportive friends and family, I wouldn’t be where I am right now.
