We had the good fortune of connecting with Trinidad “Machete” Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trinidad “Machete”, how do you think about risk?
Risk is real. Flat out. But I’ve always been a risktaker; what fun is life without journeying into the unknown.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from the rest is I’m raw and real. I treat everyone I encounter wit the upmost respect. Every day is a new adventure and takes guts to wake up and stay consistent. I started Gordo Niños as a street taquero at my dad’s mechanic shop now I’m cooking for celebrities privately or at their shows, I have my restaurant opening in 1 month, By the end of 2021 I’ll have my product Lean Sauce™️ in over 70 stores. It wasn’t easy and I’m still working at creating this empire!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Shiit, I’m always out tryin new places myself but usually bringing new homies You can catch me at a dive bar in Kemah. Eating soup dumplings in Bellaire. Ramen in Rice Village. Rollin down the seawall in Galveston. Sunnys Flea market is a dope experience ha. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I want to thank my parents they definitely did their thing raising me. My son for encouraging me. And the many people who seen my vision and continue to be on Team Machete!
