We had the good fortune of connecting with Tristeon Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tristeon, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When I’m faced with a decision to take a risk my mindset is to be aware of the challenges, but I focus on the reward. Taking risk and mainly betting on myself has helped me achieve many things in life. I never thought I’d become a published author, but I took a major risk to create something without any experience or knowing how the world would receive it, and it was very successful.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the Author of “Spoiled A$$ Kidz! Home Happy Hour Recipes for the Family.” I wrote a cookbook that was designed for families and friends to create memories by using my recipes to connect with in home happy hour events. My cookbook was the first of its kind. It’s features recipes for food, mocktails, and mocktails. My book has made it into homes in 6 out of 7 continents and was a #1 Seller on Amazon. Even with that success, the most rewarding thing about my business has been the amount of men, especially black men, who have connected with me about their struggles with mental health, who were moved by what I shared and took the necessary steps seek help to help with a mental health professional to help them work through their issues. Being a voice to help break the stigma is extremely rewarding.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a foodie who enjoys craft cocktails so I would just have them visit the restaurants I enjoy: The Breakfast Klub, Kulture, Steak48, PurNoire winery for a wine tasting experience, OST Liquor to grab a DoubleCup Cocktail in true H-Town fashion, Peli Peli, B&B Butcher’s, Killens BBQ, #1 Fried Chicken, Turkey Leg Hut, Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, Max’s Wine Dive, Taste Bar + Kitchen, and Reserve 101 (Best Whiskey Selection).
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to a few of my friends who have bet on themselves and taken on business ventures while unknowingly motivated me to do the same. Tinnell Sloan of Adoughable Cookies, Christopher & MyChelle Cooper owners of OST Liquor Store and T&C Beauty Supply Store, Kingsley Idemudia of 6Tiers Investment Group, Ashley Walker: Sneak A Peek Imaging, Kenneth & Carissa Stephens of PurNoire Wines, Ernie Agbobock wth Kote-IT Arms Gun Shop, and Rugie Bhonapha of Amoy Wines. These are the people who I learn a lot from their shared experiences, advice, and ideation.
