We had the good fortune of connecting with Estefani Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Estefani, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
So when I decided to launch my business on August 6th, 2020 a few weeks later, i finally had my first client. At times i would feel like my work wasn’t good enough and maybe that was a factor why I wasn’t getting clientele. And also at times I felt like giving up. Even though I knew I wasn’t going to have clients at my door step right away, I knew it would take time for me to build clientele. But eventually due to my patience I build within my self everything started to fall in place. After months from launching my business I started to get booked on the daily, 4 ppl a day (still to this day). But the main key to keep going is to be the your own promoter in your business And believe in your self , don’t give up on your dreams you came a long way to stop now!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Hi my name is Estefani Lopez. I’m 28 years old and a mother of 2. My nail journey started a year ago on August 6th, 2020.
At age 15 I started doing my nails, only due to the experiences I had with nail salons all the time. I would always have a issue where my nails the same day I would get them freshly done, would just pop right off my natural nails. When I had the chance to I would go back to the nail salon to get the nail(s) fixed. And I would always get told by employees at the nail shops that the nails popping off was due to my hands sweating & my nail biting( the sweating & nail biting was due to my anxiety). I got to the point that I had enough of pretty much hearing the same thing over, over, and over again. So I wanted to proof that they were wrong. One day I decided to buy a nail kit with the money I was making and saving from babysitting my little cousins. As soon as I got my hands on a nail kit I started to practice right away. I would practice on my closest friends nails, my self, and relatives as well. As I was practicing i was starting to get un-paciente with my self. Because I just couldn’t get a bead of acrylic to not run an flood my cuticles , it was just a mess. But that didn’t stop me, I keep pushing my self to keep practicing. But that was just the beginning, as months and years flew by I noticed that my acrylic placement was progressing and my Nails never popped off like when I would get my nails done at the salon.
I was being so consistent on practicing every day if I could. Until I meet the LOVE of my Life on February 8, 2013 and later became a mom. My nail journey came to a pause for about a year of being a first time mother. And being a stay home mom time to time I wanted a little me time, and wanted a hobby to keep my self occupied even though my hands were full being a full time mom.
So I became a MUA, As a hobby I started to do my makeup and on others. As a teen I always loved everything cosmetology wise. I just didn’t know what I actually loved yet in the cosmetology world. It felt like It was more like trying to find my self and what I wanted to be(career wise).
when I first started doing makeup it turned out to be just a hobby. But it turned out that it was something I liked doing but not something that I was really passionate as I thought I was.
As I was doing makeup I was also getting back on track with doing nails little by little. I was able to incorporate my artistic & creativity into nails more than in a makeup look.
Suddenly I became more, and more passionate in doing nails. On August 6th, 2020 I decided to take a big step into the Nail world as 𝕰𝖘𝖙𝖊𝖋𝕷𝖔𝖕NAILS.
Not Knowing all the risk and everything else that might come along the way In my journey.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If your a nail tech visiting my city and you happen to be in Houston Tx area. One of my favorite place to buy affordable nail supplies would be Sam Nail Supply Store (they also sale in bulk and affordable) and Dynamic Nail Supply store.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out to my local nail salons Because if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have been where I’m at today!
So as a teen I would hope salon after salon to get my nails done. And every time I would get them that same day the nails would pop right off. And the nail techs at the salons would tell me every time I would try to go back to get my nails fixed. I would get told that it was due to my hands sweating & my nail biting. Now my hands would sweat do to my anxiety and as well my nail biting. Until one day I decided to prove that, that couldn’t have been the issue of my nails popping off the same day I got my nails done. Due to that day I wouldn’t have become the nail tech I am today!
