We had the good fortune of connecting with Trulei Versatile and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trulei, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Simple, I love art. I could not see my life without me creating. I tried and it felt like something was missing. It brings me joy but it also gives me a way to bring beauty and joy to others which is priceless.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Houston Native , San Antonio Creative. My work is a physical response to an emotional happening. I am interested in the psychological and metaphoric expressions of self-identity, the body, and individual history. I use personal, emotionally driven experiences and daily social interactions as the foundation from which my pieces derive. My artistic concentration includes photography, new media, poetic and performative works. I currently specialize is Fashion, editorial and Fine Art Portraits, but I do not limit myself. With background in Fine Arts it gives the ability to give each image a unique artistic touch. I treat each clients photographs with the utmost attention and care, delivering a professional quality to the clients satisfaction. I still face challenges to this day , and I’ve learned to just keep pushing, planning. Passion can not carry you alone you have to be diligent , determined and flexible because the road to success is not easy! I take pride in my versatile nature, I personally enjoy being able to assist each client in creating their vision, cherish their special occasion or bring forth their best feature. Using the fundamentals of composition, lighting and aesthetics to capture each image beautifully. I aim to capture the true, the raw and the real. I aim to make a lasting impression and unforgettable experience , tailored by yours Trulei.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
There are so many great places all over our city! but I would have to make sure they got to visit the museum district. The activities are endless, you get to see the many faces of Houston expressed in the art that is on display from huge well known artist to local creators, it is just a great place to go. After I would take them to the cafe that sits at the center of the district it is quint and across from the McNile bookstore!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to say my college art professors had the biggest impact on my decision to pursue art full time. Seeing how passionate they were about the mediums they taught. Even though they were teaching others they were still artist at heart and always found time for their art. For me to see that and it feel how I do about creating. It was the only decision for me pursue it full time. That is why I am currently getting my Masters of Fine Arts, so that I can master my creative abilities and change the world. If not change it at least leave a lasting impression.
