We had the good fortune of connecting with TY MALONE and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TY, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
One of the most impactful habits that has helped me succeed is staying disciplined with time and task management. I rely heavily on structured planning such as setting daily goals, prioritizing tasks, and reviewing progress weekly. This helps me stay focused and make consistent progress, even when juggling multiple projects. I’ve also developed a habit of continuous learning. Whether it’s reading articles, attending webinars, or seeking mentorship, I remain open to growth. Lastly, I practice intentional networking. Building genuine relationships with potential clients, vendors, and peers has opened doors I couldn’t have predicted. Success, for me, is rooted in consistency, clarity, and connection.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My path to event planning is rooted in over 12 years of experience in education and a background in Human Resources, including an MBA in the field. What sets me apart is how I blend the structure, strategy, and people-first mindset from both worlds into every event. I approach planning with intention, organization, and a deep understanding of human connection…skills sharpened over a decade of leading in classrooms and professional settings.

Starting Tyed Together Events wasn’t easy. Transitioning industries required trusting myself, grit, and a strong support system. I leaned on my transferable skills, invested in learning the business side of events, and stayed focused on my “why.”

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that your past experiences aren’t detours but rather they’re tools. My story proves that purpose evolves. Tyed Together Events exists to celebrate stories, milestones, and communities with excellence, and I’m proud to lead it with both heart and strategy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the very best of our city’s vibrant culture, food, and nightlife. We’d start the mornings with coffee at Day 6 Coffee downtown—a fantastic Black-owned spot known for its rich brews and welcoming vibe, perfect for catching up and planning the day.

For lunch or dinner, there’s no better place than Chicken Plus on the east side in Settagest. Their fried chicken is legendary, and it’s a must-try for authentic, flavorful comfort food.

No visit would be complete without taking in some city views, so we’d head to POST Houston, a buzzing market and event space with rooftop views that showcase the skyline perfectly.

When it’s time to relax and unwind, I’d take my friend to Patio by Lapasha for hookah—an affordable and chill spot with a great atmosphere where hookah sessions run less than $20.

Friday and Saturday nights would be all about nightlife. We’d start at The Bald Kitty Lounge, a local favorite for live music, great cocktails, and a lively crowd. Then, depending on the vibe, I’d check social media—following spots like VP Wright’s itinerary or DJ Alist’s events—to catch the hottest parties happening that weekend.

Saturday evening around 5 pm, we’d hit up Seaside Lounge for their unbeatable deals—$2 lamb chops, $5 lobster tails, and 50-cent wings—perfect for indulging and enjoying a fun, social environment.

For more drinks, Trash Panda and The Flat offer unique atmospheres for great cocktails and conversation. And for a more sophisticated night, Permission in the Heights serves exquisite charcuterie paired with fine whiskey, making it a perfect spot for deep talks and celebration.

This itinerary blends culture, flavor, and community—the real heartbeat of the city—and guarantees a memorable week filled with great food, music, and connection.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to first recognize my father, Tyrone Malone, owner of Your Tax Service and Anybody’s Lawn Care in Ruston, Louisiana. Growing up, I watched him build multiple businesses from the ground up, including a bail bonds company. His drive, determination, and commitment to ownership shaped my mindset early on. He showed me what it means to take risks, lead with integrity, and create something lasting.

I also want to shout out Jasmine Lynch, founder of Comebee Wellness Community. Jasmine is a close friend and a powerful force in the entrepreneurial space. She’s not a gatekeeper…she’s a connector. Her willingness to share knowledge, uplift others, and create space for collaboration is inspiring. Jasmine reminds me that success is not just about what you build, but how you bring others along with you.
