We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Edmonds and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Ever since I was a little kid I’ve always wanted to start my own business and run it from the ground up. After going through a few life changing things in 2017-2022 I decided to start Faded World in September of 2022 to shed light on drug addiction and mental health. There wasn’t too much thought to it really. We came up with a cool first design and started to go! Now, in this current day, we’re trying to stay a lot more on brand than we have been in the past. One thing we always wanted to have from the start of the business was a trademarked phrase. Earlier this year in May 2024 we trademarked the phrase “Still Alive” and checked off that goal, and continue to push harder with the main focus of our brand!

What should our readers know about your business?
Here at Faded World I believe we’re set apart a bit due to the fact we print and embroider all own our garments in house as well as for other brands! This allows us to have a bit more creative freedom and test out new things! Being consistent as well as caring for the customer, hearing their story, talking with them in DM’s and in person is what I’d say got us to where we are today! EASY? No I wouldn’t say Easy, but i would say fun and a roller coaster! The people I’ve met along the way have helped navigate me a bit and made this journey a lot easier on my end! The connections I’ve made in these 2 years are just amazing to sit back and look on! One thing I would say is be yourself and be real! What I’d like the world to know is that you can overcome anything. Six years ago I was addicted to drugs, had a horrible mental health, and just pretty lost. Feb 27th 2024 made 6 years off of my DOC. Still Alive, our slogan, is literally the embodiment of our brand. No matter what you’re struggling with; whether it be mental health, drug addiction, or just life.. Always remember that you are Still Alive!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Favorite spots in the city I’d definitely say Popston, Taste of Texas, POST, Bad Astronaut Brewery, and Texans games. If i had to make a little itinerary though I’d say we would start the day by driving over to Jersey Bagels in the Jersey Village area and ordering a Taylor Ham egg, cheese, on an everything bagel. After that I’d head over to Bad Astronaut Brewery for some fun games (usually have local vendors there as well) and have some beers! If you’re in Houston you HAVE TO go to The French Fry House and try the chicken alfredo french fries and boudin egg rolls. Also when in Houston you have to drive down 45 and see the iconic BE SOMEONE sign for sure! Of course go over to Nasa, but also I’d recommend taking a tour on the Bayou and learn a bit of history about the city!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Id like to dedicate my shoutout to my Dad, because without my dad I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I’m at now. Nor would I have the drive to succeed like I do now!
