We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Humphrey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The traditional physical therapy model is broken. PT’s have 3-4 clients at a time, and are forced to delegate the majority of their tasks to tech’s and aides. This results in only being able to spend 5-10 minutes with each client. I felt burnt out and frustrated.
I believe each client should be seen one on one. This allows me to watch every repetition they complete, and make adjustments as needed.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The two biggest things that separate Bulletproof from the traditional PT clinic are my schedule, and my facility. As I mentioned earlier, every session is one on one with me. No tech’s or aides.
Facility wise, operating out of Facet 7 allows me to do things that most PT clinics cannot. Most PT clinics consist of ankle weights and thera bands. That is an ok place to start, but ultimately, that won’t help you get back into the gym or on the field. I have 20,000 square feet of space, with all of the weights and equipment needed to get you back to your sport.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man, where to start? I absolutely love the Houston food scene. Some of my favorites include UB Preserve (or any Chris Shepard restaurant, Hugo’s, 93 til, MAD, and Huynh.
As for bars, I live in Eado, and East End hardware is my go to local watering hole. Shout out to Laura and the rest of the awesome staff there! Other fun ones would be Truckyard, Mcintyres, and Kirby Ice House.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Most importantly, the ownership at Facet 7 Fitness. Layn, Justin, and Jose believed in me, and allowed me to operate my business out of their facility. It is the nicest gym in the area, and I’m thrilled to be associated with them.

Also, my clients. Without them, none of this is possible. They allow me to work with my ideal patient population all day, every day. They make my job fun. I never feel like I am working.
